All praise due to Saint Sailboat, but the Pizza Guy is responsible for the Fat Garbageman. Though, now that I think about it, without GBYBM, YMSOB, the dickrod fiasco wouldn't have set them so far back. Of course, Hoke now has 2.5 recruiting classes under his ample belt, and has failed to develop any of those guys, save Funchess, into a difference maker. In fact, his only "good year", was done almost entirely on the back of the misfit toys dickrod recruited.Bump eh tee mother pumpkin bump

Hoke is an slightly less girthy Charlie Weis. Recruits like the dickens, but fails to get anything of note out of those February accolades...

I agree with Jaxbuck. The RR situation was so pumpkined up that Pizza guy was baited into believing that hiring a "Michigan Man" was essential. Unfortunately for him the cupboard was bare.
They could have hired Lombardi and it wouldn't have mattered.
You can't take a roster RR spent 3 years filling with mid level talent that fit a very specific scheme and transform it into a power oriented, top end B1G team in just another 3 years. It will honestly take 5 in my mind. If the Pizza Man panics and fires him inside of 5 it will really do some damage imo.
Lets just say they fire Hoke after 5 years, add that to the 3 years of RR and pick the year you want to point to as the beginning of the end of what Bo built and it starts to be a 10-15 year opus of fail up there. They are mimicking the Domers decline something fierce.
I personally feel they stopped being M*ch*gan football during The Game 2004 so we are at a decade right now. I think you have at least 2 more years of Hoke before Pizza Man has to spin the wheel again. Then he has to hit a HR, if he pulls another Hoke out from under some rock...well.

They were pretty bad in '05...7-5, and lost to Callahan in that magnificent Alamo Bowl. 2006 started well, but unravelled against tOSU and USC.Nah. They were still competitive in 2005 and 2006. It was 2007 when they got beat by Appy, housed by Oregon, and run over by Beanie in The Game. They still beat Florida in the Capital One Bowl to end '07, so they must have been doing something right.
I think that Bill Martin earned his salary. Plain and simple. A working man with the right values. God bless him forever.
