Tressel is permitted, pending further NCAA sanctions, to coach throughout the spring, summer and fall ? everything except actual game days.
He said because of a shortage of players at some positions, the annual spring game would more than likely end up being an offense vs. defense scrimmage. In the past, the Buckeyes have drafted teams and played a simulated game before a big crowd at Ohio Stadium.

QBs keep gunning it

With Joe Bauserman missing reportedly because of a class, the other three Ohio State quarterbacks in the derby to replace Terrelle Pryor for the first five games of 2011 took up the slack without missing a beat in practice today.
Sophomore Kenny Guiton, redshirt-freshman Taylor Graham and freshman Braxton Miller took turns during the brief full-team scrimmage situation the media got to watch on the indoor field, moved there because of the winds outside.
Guiton seemed more in control running the offense. Graham flashed outside on one particular play, showing some wheels, only to have his pass picked off by Florida State transfer Dionte Allen with a diving catch.
And Miller appeared more and more comfortable with each play he got to run, stepping up and out while keeping his eyes downfield on one play in particular before firing a pass. For a fellow just four months removed from high school, it seems he gaining a grip quickly.

Spring Practice Insider: QB Battle Taking Shape
By Brandon Castel
COLUMBUS, Ohio — Senior quarterback Joe Bauserman missed Tuesday’s spring practice to attend class. He may have wished he skipped school instead.
Without him, sophomore Kenny Guiton ran Ohio State’s first-team offense with the precision of a seasoned veteran.
Coach Jim Tressel said he was looking for one of the quarterbacks to “emerge” this spring, and Guiton seems to be taking that challenge to heart.
The third-year quarterback out of Texas threw a number of pinpoint passes during the scrimmage portion of practice that was open to the media, and showed off a strong, accurate arm along with good mobility.
He might just have the most accurate arm in the group, and if he continues to show the same command he had Tuesday, Guiton should get plenty of more options to run the first-team offense.
