Spring Football - 2005 (mega-merge)

I'll stick with my original comments, the attendance will mirror the temperature tomorrow, though I'm estimating that it may be in the high 30's with the wind and rain. Here is the latest forecast from the national weather service......... only the diehards will turn out tomorrow........including myself

Saturday: Occasional rain. The rain could be heavy at times. High around 45. Northwest wind between 13 and 17 mph, with gusts as high as 29 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New rainfall amounts between a half and three quarters of an inch possible

Same lame ass list we get every year. There are about 30... maybe 40 teams that rotate in and out of this list over the course of time. USC going to be good? What a shock.

I hope OSU is rated lower than we'd all expect. I'd rather take people by surprise.

Oh, I almost forgot, it's probably about time for the talking heads to start in on how the big ten is down this year. (Michigan and Iowa notwithstanding)

I don't think anyone on this forum is surprised that neither Maisel or May would have the Buckeyes in the Top-10 -- both notorious OSU haters. Trev's ballot will probably come in later after his wife finishes filling it out for him. Since it's not available, I'll do it for him:

1. USC
2. Iowa
3. Georgia

that's about it ...

Actually, these all seem fairly reasonable, and I don't take it personally that OSU is absent from some lists -- it'll be all-the-sweeter when we beat three teams that are ranked in the Top-6 of three of the four lists: Texas, Iowa and Michigan.

3 things stand out to me:

1) Maisel has Auburn in his Top-10. This is a stretch, to say the least. I feel bad for Auburn's fans, I was amazed at Auburn's defense last year in the Sugar Bowl, but last year was last year. They lose their entire offensive backfield, a hefty portion of the defense, and the defensive coordinator to boot. I think 2005 Auburn is the leading candidate to mirror 2004 Ohio State -- suffer a few tough losses early until the coaching staff figures out where the talent is.

2) Bob Davie doesn't have Iowa in the Top-10. Davie has called more Iowa games for ESPN/ABC in the last three years than all other ESPN/ABC analysts combined. He, of all people, should know how good Iowa is. They lose the entire defensive line, which is a huge question mark, but I have no doubt Ferentz will solve that problem before September.

3) These lists contain, for the most parts, all the usual suspects that are generally the 'can't miss' programs year after year, except for Florida State. Oh, how the mighty have fallen ...

Who honestly gives a shit what these losers think?

Come game time versus Texas, Iowa, and Michigan, we'll have a chance to shove it in their face - just like we did against Cryami in the Fiesta Bowl.
In an ideal world that would be wonderful for you, in a bcs world preseason rankings actually matter... and that sucks
