Still bugs me that there are folks who have been on this site for many years.. and have thousands of posts but have never contributed a dime.. I don't get it

Would be interesting to have a "Ignore Non Contributors" feature for anyone that hasn't contributed a dime in the last 3 or 4 years option

I understand that goes against Clarity's view.. but freeloading is just not right.. donate the cost of two beers in a year.. I applaud someone like gmen... times can be rough but no one can explain not having a dime and posting for the last 10 years... because your internet is $40 a month

Maybe I am old school but I am like NJ-Buckeye in that there are so many guys who posts quite a bit but have never given one single dime and it is not like they are destitute. I know that even some of you belong to pay sites but you come over here and did not pay one single dime. You should be ashamed of yourselves. Clarity is too much of a man to call you out but he has worked his ass off to make this one of the better Ohio State sites on the Internet and some of you guys cannot give a dime… think about it. One man, along with the assistance of a few really good people, to establish a site where you can talk about almost everything and yet you do not have the heart to even spend $5. It is very easy to tell who you are and I do not have much respect for you and never will until I see a banner next your name.

Maybe those people make their donations anonymously?

As much as I wish everyone would chip in, I always cringe a bit when I see people being shamed for not making a donation. People should be giving because they want to, not because they are being guilted into it. Just my IMO.

I enjoy the information and distraction enough that I am willing to donate for it, but there is a reason I don't have a membership to any of the other sites.

While I agree with you, I think that you and me and NJ-Buckeye could figure out those people give "anonymously". Maybe I am wrong and I certainly hope I am.

I would think that everyone should "want to" give just because of how much other people have sacrificed to make this site a site for everyone to voice almost anything but that is just my opinion:wink:

I also do not know why this thread is buried down here:)

Guess it's part of the experience and bond you got being part of a team... and feeling like everyone's 'paying their dues'... or putting in effort
If you hang with a bunch of guys every week... and one of them NEVER EVER throws in any money for the tab... you get tainted
If the guy is out of work, you understand... but somewhere in 520 weeks.. he should be able to toss in a ten

$10 a year... is that guilt tripping someone? if so, GUILTY

I have reason to believe the folks who contribute mightily are the ones more likely to do so anonymously...

I do. But I do it because I want to, not because I have to. I'm sure there are people that are here a lot but don't donate -- I just don't think it is fair to assume the worst of somebody just because they don't have a sexy chick-magnet panty-dropping banner like yours and mine.

Yeah, I get where you are coming from -- but if the one of the basic ideas was that this site wasn't going to be like the other sites (special info and preferential treatment for paying members), isn't it going against that a bit to call out or belittle somebody for not chipping in? Especially when we don't really know 100% who does and does not donate?

You are absolutely right... that is precisely what Clarity wants... I'm just wired a bit different... I know the history... and the value this site brings... fair is fair... not asking for a burden... just pay for your own beer ... that's how I was brought up

You wait week after week for someone to toss in for their own beer.. but someday you say "HEY, come on now"

Clarity has already given up his blood, sweat and tears... year after year.. it's time to COMPLETELY alleviate him of the burden

It's really very simple
Everyone that contributes knows it's the right thing to do
Everyone that doesn't knows it's not the right thing to do
Not saying pay your fair share... contribute SOMETHING... ANYTHING

You get that banner for any donation
If you've been on here for more than 3 yrs and you don't have a banner, you're a freeloader
If you've posted > 1000 posts and don't have a banner, you're a freeloader

The exception being those in premium positions that contribute valuable content that is for our benefit... content that would certainly cost us $$$ elsewhere
