One thing to consider, though, is who the Miami head coach was when you played them in '02. They lost ELEVEN draft picks including FIVE first rounders to the NFL from the year before(when they won the NC), and I just don't think Coker can win a NC without 15 or so first rounders on the team(5 in '02, 4 in '03, 6 in '04, 1 in '05), which is about how many Miami had in that '01 team.

There are no similarities bewteen UF 06 and OSU 02. That Buckeyes team was loaded with NFL talent, and had close games because their star TB (Clarett) was injured. Had he played all year, there would have been far fewer close games. OSU beat Miami becuase it was the better, more athletic team. And the 02 OSU team was 14-0. This UF team will end up 12-2.

What team were you watching? I think it's a stretch to call the talent of that OSU team greater than the Miami squad.

As for the Clarett statements, I'm not going to even address them because ignorance doesn't deserve a response.

Just a little footnote here after having read the "Just a reminder" thread...my original idea was to bash the talking heads who bring up ridiculous cliche comments before big games. In no shape, way, or form was it meant to bash anything about Florida and their team; they do have speed which I pointed out originally is gonna give us fits early until we make some adjustments. But the heart of my thread was to point out that the Big Ten is not made up of slow footed corn fed hulks who cant run and The OSU usually has one or two Florida kids at the speed positions anyways  It's gonna be a heck of a game and let's bring it on :oh:

You wouldn't be referring to the Nebraska team that got hammered by some Florida speed in 01 are you?

:oh: My humble take on their "SEC" speed is this - sure their D may be able to outrun us on a track field. The balance Pittman, Wells and Smith provide when we are not running the spread will counter that. And football is won in the threches, our lines are bigger and more athletic. Their backs may be able to hold our 4 and 5 spread WR sets for short periods of time, but if the line buys TS time, there is always some breakdown and TS can find it (or just break it for 8-10 on his own).

Off the mark of the thread, but brought up in an earlier post was Corso's point on our special teams (specifically our kicker and punter) being waaayyyyyy better and it is spot on. We know JT coaches to field position better than anyone in the game today.

I take the bucks +10 in this one easily. :io:

your forgetting that not only have they lived in ohio for atleast a year now, which significantly decreases their speed. but they are now corn fed as well. they are all probably 80lbs heavier and a full 3 seconds slower in the 40 than when they left florida.

FWIW: All of the Gator fans around here have been very decent. They haven't mentioned the word "speed" a single time. They expect to get all they can handle.

Message-board-guy not withstanding, the Gators seem to be a decent bunch IMHO.
honestly what group of fans have you come not to like? to me the internet has shown what is so great about college football. we have regulars here from usc, tejas, ok st etc that to me are all great guys, great cfb fans. that is one reason i enjoy the sport so much. the "real" fan can sit down talk about his team strength and weakness get up shake your hand and say "wow it was great to have a conversation with a true college football fan" you know sure we have exceptions but the reality is many of the top teams have bandwagoners which ruin the perception for many. we ourselves have the same fault....

Media

I believe the media will mention the "SEC speed" ad nauseum. I have maintained over the years there is a media bias against the Bucks and the Big Ten. Then again I am paranoid. Kidding! But seriously folks, get ready for the "SEC speed" commentary. FWIW - I pick the Bucks in a comfortable margin. Why? Leak will continue to make mistakes. And, the mentality of our Bucks is that they EXPECT to win with a quiet confidence. That didn't exist under Cooper. And, finally, we have the Heiman winner and Coach Tressel. Oh, and don't forget, get ready for the Urban Meyer "give him this much time to get ready for a team" b.s. and he's a genious. I'll take Coach Tressel :) anytime.:oh: :io: :gobucks4: :scum4: :osu2: :osu3:
