Speed of Big10 vs. other conferences

We need to start recruiting in Bangledesh....its the new speed factory
Nonsense. If they were that fast they'd be here already.

Separately, I have to say that Mallett, having played in both the Big Ten and SEC, has a better basis for comparison than most. I wouldn't discount his comments out of hand, though Ohio State is likely the fastest team in the conference.

I feel that while the SEC has 5 teams that are deep and athletic at any given time.....the rest of the conferences have 2 teams at any given time with depth and elite players.......SEC: UF, Jaw Jaw, LSU, Bama, Auby, with Arkansas getting there..... Big Twelve: OU and Texas, Pac Ten Oregon and traditionally USC....Ohio State in the big ten....these are teams that have the personel to compete for NC's. If southern speed was an argument WTF is the ACC's problem? Maybe they do have the speed but maybe fast twitch athletes are over rated with out good coaching etc.

Run a quick comparison on stadium size and academic standards between the ACC and the SEC. Basketball, academics and NASCAR in the ACC. Football, lite beer and NASCAR in the SEC. Great barbecue in both, but I prefer Texan style.

Gawga does not get much out of theirs.

speed is such a poor description, though. Aj green is not speedy but still a great athlete and wr. Same with julio. Chris Relf lumbers around but makes plays. Masoli is more like mike hart. He is a dynamic runner but not a speed merchant. Jefferson is a good athlete but not that fast. Are reed and burton fast?

Newton is a speed merchant. most of the other qbs are better athletes than sprinters.

there are certainly burners in the sec, but even the little schools have fast guys. It is the big uglies and qb play (independent of speed) which separate the squads.

South carolina and auburn have strong speed on D but run around out of position. Bama and lsu do not have faster defenders, they have better defenders.

This - from his freshman year at TSUN.

what that has to do with SEC teams I'm not sure though.

Yeah, I got what he was saying, I just can't figure out how it's relevant.

That's because it isn't.

In his interview yesterday, Ryan Mallett was asked so many questions about Michigan by the attendant Ohio media he finally had to say "I play for Arkansas now".

Obsessed with Michigan much?

Sure it's relevant. If the quality of athletes is higher in his current conference than his former, shouldn't he have done a better job of exposing the relative weaknesses in the former?

Can't figure out how it's relevent? How about he making the comparrison himself? HE said he played in both and found the SEC just so fucking fast. So, his stats against the Big 10 and the SEC were compared.

Not sure where your confusion is.

Check the name of this site again...

I know. I kid. I'm a kidder. It was a comment about the media asking Mallett about Michigan, not a comment about Sandgk.

It is reminiscent of our late rivalry with Texas (spit), so I understand.

We hated them with the white hot heat of a thousand suns.

It must be that the recievers at Arkansas are so much faster they could get to the bullets he fires at 120 miles an hour.....I mean Michigan had really shitty recivers that year who are all in the NFL now and ran ape shit all over a UF team with Tim Tebow......
