Sparty at tOSU, Nov 20th, 12 pm ET, ABC

This game is so confusing because it's a contrast in styles and you have no idea how it's going to go.

If the prolific passing offense gets its usual number of possessions it will almost certainly score 35+ points

If the ground based offense can run the ball and limit the other teams possessions then it could end up a much closer game.

It's all or nothing around that. Whichever way you feel that might go is how you should bet it/not bet it.

No team has had success running the ball since the first 2 weeks when we played a different style defense. I will be surprised if Sparty has extreme success running the ball and I acknowledge that Walker is a great RB. I think this defense though can hold Sparty under 100 if we come to play pissed off but I'd think it'll be south of 150 at least.

With them not having Nailor more than likely we can really focus Burke on their other good WR and commit the rest to stopping the run.

I think the defense will play well and I think our offense won't have it quite as easy this week.

Any margin of victory at this point works but I'm thinking 42-24.

I agree Jax. I can totally see tOSU getting that offense and passing game gong and this being 35-14 at half. I just struggle to see how MSu scores enough to win unless somehow MSU shuts down OSU passing game. Which I just don't see how that happens. I am convinced that if OSU plays a clean game as far as turnovers they win. That to me is the only factor that will turn this game.

I still think a hidden risk is MSU blitzing to an absurd level. They know they can't cover the OSU WR's so it changes the risk/reward profile.

Might as well blitz on nearly every down and if you get burned, oh well, couldn't cover them anyway.

I hope Day has the quick passing game ready or Stroud could get beat up.

And that will depend on how many tackles Walker can break. He's a great RB, and barring injury, will get the ball 30-35 times. If OSU's defenders get a hand on him, they need to get him down more often than not. Poor tackling can absolutely cost OSU this game.

I'm afraid of them getting burned on play action more than tackling, but who knows?

Once again, play error free ball and the good guys win. We saw last week what happens when the good guys don't repeatedly shoot themselves in the foot.
Which Ryan Day attributed our success to last week. We stopped all our dumb penalties and didn't turn the ball over. The luxury for OSU is that because they're so talented mistakes and penalties have got to be apart of the game for the opposing team to win.

If OSU can avoid the costly penalties and turnovers and slow down the Sparty run game like @Greyshirt says its hard to see how Sparty can keep up. Particularly since their best WR is probably out as well. Sparty has got to run the ball to win and even then can they get enough stops?
