Sparty at tOSU, Nov 20th, 12 pm ET, ABC

I'm afraid of them getting burned on play action more than tackling, but who knows?
I want them to stuff the run, even if it leads to a couple of huge plays like Nebraska got. I don’t want to see Sparty having 3 or 4 8-minute drives on Saturday, which would limit Buckeye possessions. Make them try to keep up in a high-scoring game, rather than having a slobber-knocker that gives them a better chance.

Go for 3-and-outs, instead of bend-but-don’t-break.

If I had to guess, I think this is what Barnes and Day want as well. They'd take a couple big pass plays if it means MSU can't dictate the game on the ground. The CBs are up to the task, but the safeties will decide how many big plays occur. hopefully they have their best game yet.

This. We have the corners to hold up and if we take away the run it'll make them vulnerable to the pass rush (if we can get one). Sparty strikes me as a team that prefers to go down the field so we should have a better shot with our rush this week.

I usually have a feeling on a game and after throttling Purdue, I would think I'd have one here. But I've watched enough of Sparty this year to feel they're a pretty damn good team and very well might make this a close one. Hopefully we saw the light last week and beat their brakes off. I tend to think things are coming together and we beat them convincingly. But I think that's far from a given.

Exactly. Different week, different opponent.

To me, the bottom line is finishing drives. We all know tOSU offense is going to put up a lot of yardage. But, if Sparty can hold tOSU offense to fg attempts instead of tds, they might be able to hang around, a la Penn State & Nebraska. If they let the Bucks offense get into their groove, they can put up a lot of points in a hurry (just ask Purdue).
That will be the game plan. MSU defense is dead last in yards per game through the air, but not terrible in points per game. They will tighten up in the red zone.

I guess one two-birds-one-stone eventuality for the game is the head-to-head matchup of the #1 and #2 Heisman candidates. If we shut down MSU's running game then there's a clear favorite going into the awards season.

Yeah, yeah, yeah... cart before the horse and what not.

If they take control early, it’ll be a blowout. CJ plays his best when he’s loose.

But if we struggle early to score TDs, it could be very much like the Penn State and Nebraska games. CJ has not lit it up when the game has been closer going into second half.
