You may not have to worry about that Sep 12th...Russell was not running with the first-stringers at all today, Hines was.

Demoted that quickly? Wow. I'm actually kind of surprised and don't really know how to react. We gain talent, but lose a lot of experience. I honestly don't know how I feel about that. Either way, Go Bucks!

One very positive on our side is the guy we have at QB is just the exact style of QB that gives SC fits! Problem is; Does Tress let him run enough to make a difference? Or does he protect TP(limited called runs) and hope the team can get it done without TP running much?

The reason I am not as excited about that move is that I believe we need Hines for blitzing especially the backside on bootlegs. If he plays safety then that makes Kurt play cover 1, which is what hurt us against Navy. Russell's role would be different in a cover 2 and allow Hines to play one on one or blitz. I'm torn if that stays the same.

Although I thought as the week goes on I'd feel worse and worse about this game as visions of the last 5:00 minutes against Navy repeated in my head. But, some how I'm focusing more on the positive things I saw and getting pumped for USC.

Playcalling - The option, throwing to the tight ends, flanker screens.

WR play was excellent. Carter and Posey escpecially. TWash needs to catch the ball, but he certainly looks the part.

I like Pryor's ability to make plays against any defense, even USC's.

On a negative note though, the Metallica kick-off song needs to go. I'm a big Metallica fan (granted, I'm talking the older stuff), but PLEASE bring back the Seven Nation Army!!! One of the best memories of the 2008 season was the entire stadium singing that as we kicked off again and again and again and again against MIchigan.

How different would we feel had the staff done the logical, right call on 4th and 2? Kick the FG from the 15 and go up 32-14. Its a completely different mindset. Navy is down 3 scores and that sucks the life out of them. That PROBABLY ends up the final score.

Look people are really selling Navy short. This is a program that has gone to 6 consecutive bowl games and led the nation in rushing 4 straight seasons. Navy normally runs an annoying pesky offense. But when you bring in a QB like Dobbs, who can actually complete passes it transforms from a pesky annoyance to a down right dangerous offense.

I spoke with a guy who has an extensive amount of HS coaching at a major HS program in central Ohio who routinely sends kids to big ten football programs including Ohio State. He told me today "Navy might not lose another game this season." I don't know if I buy that but what is factual is that Navy is by far, the toughest opening opponent the buckeyes have faced in a very long time.

I watched most of the first half of the USC game. Its clear to me that the USC staff is going to be careful with Barkley. In Sanchez debut with Virgina he had 35 pass attempts. Barkley had 19.

To me, its very clear. Pick your poison Barkley's arm or the USC OL and that stable of backs and let Barkley throw when they want. I say the defense has to do whatever it takes to shut down the USC ground game. Force the game into Barkleys hands and bring every sophisticated zone scheme and blitz in the play book. Keep him confused and hit him.

I think folks are too caught up in what happened in the last 5 minutes of the Navy game and aren't accurately factoring in just how good Navy will turn out to be.

I like the buckeyes in this game and I wont be the least bit surprised if the result turns out closer to the second Texas game. I expect the OSU defense to get to and rattle Barkley.

Ive been telling yall move hines to saftey and put russel at the star.. simple

Russell is fine as a safety. He was only one on one with the guy because Ohio State was committing 8 and 9 to the box to stop the run.

This likely won't happen against USC except MAYBE on the goalline and that will be a Tight End, not a WR....
