Great response. You wit and wisdom will be missed...not!

Good luck at the game. If you behave as nicely as you have on this board you'll be treated as you deserve to be treated.

Found this article on USC's Saturday scrimmage -

While Carroll was quick to give a definitive ?No? when asked if he had any doubts about his decision, the Trojan coach wasn?t nearly as upbeat about Barkley as he has been in recent weeks. ?I think he missed a couple of chances,? Carroll said. ?I think he?s still growing, still coming. He could be better.?

Too often on Saturday, Barkley was too slow to read coverages, too slow rolling out, too slow throwing. He got away with the pedestrian pace against the scout defense, a luxary he won?t have against San Jose State to say nothing of Ohio State Sept. 12. Even Barkley acknowledged he needs to play with a greater sense of urgency. ?Get everything quicker,? Barkley said snapping his fingers.

Barkley is still forcing throws into coverage when he should be throwing it away.

Johnson?s injury is a major blow to a receiving crew that was expected to ease Barkley?s transition. With RoJo out, David Ausberry will move into the starting line-up but redshirt freshman Brice Butler and freshman De?Von Flournoy will also have to step. Like now. Butler had four receptions for 66 yards on Saturday. Flournoy has been impressive on the field but continues to struggle to learn the offense.

Barkley is still throwing into coverage. It's the main point of concern... he just thinks he can make every play, but he needs to throw it away more often. I think he'll figure it out eventually, hopefully sooner rather than later. at the scrimmage everyone around knew when he was making those throws. You just hope he calms down soon.

As far as Wright, I think he's done. It's a huge shame, but there's no excuse to not get the grades required to play. It's not like the standards are especially high for football players in general.

That said, I think the defense will be okay without him. He's in one of the positions where I think we can fill in pretty easily. I'd be far more concerned if it was one of the linebackers.

Lost in all this is the fact that USC's defensive backfield took a confirmed hit today.

Question for the USC posters. With Shareece Wright's past and now this is he going to last with the USC program in your opinion?

We covered the Wright situation 4 days ago, starting here in this same thread :wink2:

Not that it matters at this point, but USC's 2008 base 43 defense started Kyle Moore and Everson Griffen at the DE spots, with Clay Matthews substituting in pass rushing situations. Rey Maualuga was the Mike backer, Cushing was the SAM, and Kaluka Maiava was the WILL.
