Game Thread Southern Cal 18, at tOSU 15 (Sept 12th, 8 pm, ESPN)

I like tOSU's chances with Barkley at QB better than I do with Corp. Now, just because Barkley might start doesn't make me overconfident, but I like my chances far better.

This game will play out differently than the mess at the Coliseum...it will be a tighter game. That's a fair bit of stress for anyone to bear, much less someone 1 game out of high school. Just ask TP about that...

Yeah, I agree. Thinking back to playing UT when C. McCoy made his first big start, the one point he made in the post-game was that OSU's defense confused him by continuously switching up coverages and looks. Now, by all accounts Barkley may be better than Colt was at this point in their careers, but he's still a freshman nonetheless. Considering we have 3-year starters at both safety spots (they key the look of the coverage), and that Chekwa matched up really good with D. Williams last year, we should be ok against either QB, but I'll put my money on Barkley not playing as well as Corp.

Well, if you insist on acting stupid, then I suggest taking a sign that shows the ultimate in poor taste:

Erin Should Pose Nude...

oh wait...

Awesome!! If I use that one, can I take the credit....or on the bottom of the sign put, "copyright: DaddyBigBucks"?

Talk about nationwide advertising..the whole country would know who you were!!

I just may do that.....:wink2:

Just a quick update in case you guys didn't read about it, it's looking like Corp might be out for three weeks instead of two, meaning Barkley would almost automatically become the starter for the first game.

Then comes the hard choice of moving in Corp for Ohio State or keeping Barkley in there.

Either way this is great news for Buckeye fans, I would think.

I'm not sure how to take it. Obviously, you'd like to take your opponents best shot and win rather than win because of "back-ups" playing. Having said that, as I stated above, I think this gives the Buckeyes one edge in the game.

I certainly don't consider the game "easy" no matter who starts. USC has loads of talent at every position, so I'd expect a challenge no matter who starts.

You think Texas fans give a fuck that they beat us in 2005 without our best QB playing the whole game?

At the time, that was debateable. I'll say this, PERSONALLY, I'd have felt even better about the Texas series had we beat UT with Vince rather than a freshman. No doubt.

I think that having a QB that has taken all of the snaps with the ones actually helps USC. Everything that I've heard is that Barkley was going to be the man, pretty soon, anyway. Might as well get him as many reps now, and find out how to play to his strengths, rather than having him split practice and poosibly game time with a guy that no one really considers to be more than a temporary fix.

I think Barkley is going to win the Heisman before it is all said and done, but when it comes to this year I'd rather have him in the Shoe rather than Corp. Just for the fact that the place is going to be bumping that night, and thats the scenario you want with a true freshman. I think he could fare decently, but all OSU needs is a few key turnovers from a freshman to capitalize on mistakes.

If Barkley does start then expect some trickery involving Joe McKnight and Ronald Johnson early on.

I'm really excited to see the potential of Barkley as a fan of college football, but I think that having his 2nd start in the Shoe vs a team filled with talent he has never seen before will not give him his best game.

The key no matter who starts though is to stop the run. Plain and Simple.

Even if USC loses its best that Barkley does start because it will give Barkley expierence that could help move along his career.
