The media (read: ESPiN) doesn't decide who plays in the NC game. Every year there are talking heads who say that USC is the best team and should be playing for the national title.

Uh, maybe because USC is the far superior team?
No, the media doesnt, but by the way they present something, they might be able to sway the way some coaches vote.

Maybe SC was a superior team, but like in ANY sport, on that day they were not, OSU was, that is exactly why games are played. That is why there should be a playoff.

Count up AP media voters/population. California gets 4 votes, Ohio gets three. OSU benefits from more votes in the rest of the Big 10 Pa. 2, Iowa 1, Illinois, 2 Indiana 2, Michigan 1, Wisconsin 1, Minnesota 1. The Pac 12 & USC gets 2 more for Washington and Oregon and one for Arizona. Some validity to your argument.

Maybe SC was a superior team,
You think maybe? Let's be honest here, the rest of the Pac 12 was pretty mediocre compared to USC-- so was the rest of the Big 10 -- compared to OSU and Penn State (and both of them were pretty average), facts borne out in season and post season play.

but like in ANY sport, on that day they were not, OrSU was, that is exactly why games are played. That is why there should be a playoff.

Good point and that is why the playoff and championship games should include games in the mid-west and north-east.

Mitch Mustain has resolved his issues and will be eligible for the 2009 season.

He may still be third string, but he's now eligible.

LATimes.blog

USC quarterback Mitch Mustain has resolved an academic issue and is eligible for the coming season, Coach Pete Carroll said.

"It's been resolved," said Carroll, whose team reports for training camp Aug. 7.

Carroll had confirmed last week that Mustain, a fourth-year junior, was dealing with unspecified academic matters that could have jeopardized his eligibility. The Trojans open the season against San Jose State on Sept. 5.

now are we talking that usc has a chance? It WILL come down to how it go's with sanchez but since beanie declared draft we might as well be playing a whole heard of reggie bushes! I think that the weight of this game is going to be on whoevers playing RB but it is going to be a good game no matter what.

would it be a last year repeat?

Last year against USC we had nothing going. What would happen this year because I don't really see a chance now that beanies gone but... Same with troy we thought nothing would replace him but here comes Pryor all of a sudden! Your predictions for this years USC game?

Hard to understand, when I read this I picture JP from Grandma's Boy talking...."will...you...sit...on...my...face".

Pretty conservative predictions. The warnings are a given. 9 two-weekers seems low, but of course a Buckeye win will keep them to a minimum. The number of permas could go either way, depending on how many drive-by idiots stop by. But the one glaring omission I see is a complete lack of McNeillings. It just wouldn't be Autumn on BP without a couple of trolls getting ape-raped for our amusement. I hope there's at least one, not just for the entertainment value, but because it seems like forever since shetuck has graced us with his genius. :(
