We need a couple of elite RB's and I think we will have that with Berry, Smith and Hyde.

don't write off saine and herron just yet. both played extremely well last night imo. boom coming around the corner and putting mays flat on his ass was one of the many highlights from last night for me. saine really has great hands to go along with his speed. theres a lot to like with the next crop of tb's, but don't overlook the current group. boom was an absoloute beast. his td run? talk about playing bigger than you are.

The OSU version of "wait till next year".

Sorry, I can't get on board with celebrating moral victories. Not getting blown out in a big game has become the criteria for success at OSU all of a sudden? We showed we belong by making a team with a true freshman QB work hard to beat us? At home?

Frankly the amount of this school of thought I see on here scares me. All I saw last night was another loss that could have been a win because one third of this team isn't on the same level as the other two thirds. Its been a constant theme and isn't going to change by the same people doing the same things over and over again.

I don't see this as celebrating a moral victory but rather recognizing that the team played much better than expected, especially from a defensive standpoint. No one is happy about this loss, but if there's one positive to draw from this, it is that the team is coming along faster than expected. That's my take.

Exactly.

The expectation was another blow out loss. It was a close loss so people are happy.

Maybe its just me but I have a problem with that.

I've never heard it nearly as loud as last night in that stadium. The Bucks Defense looked like the 02 team, flyin' around to the ball. Very impressive preformance from our defense.

Pryor did not play well, IMHO. He has got some serious work to do is he is to become an NFL QB. He also missed a wide open Carter on one of the last plays as he was locked into Posey as he was most of the evening. When I say open, I mean like 50 yards of grass open. That would have been a missed pre-snap read as Grad mentioned in another post.

I also noticed this alot of the night:

----------X
-------------------X
---------X--X
---------------X
X -----X-X-X-X-------------X
O------OOOOO-------------O
----------O---O----O
----------O

Why we were not using the red O on some kind of bubble screen our quick pass I'll never know. "Take what the defense gives you" comes to mind. Throw Ray, Saine, or Thomas in there and thats a 4 -5 yarder all night. It was open nearly everytiime we went to that formation.

It's easy to second guess, I can understand why JT didn't take the 3 points in the 2nd half - "if we miss the 52 yarder, they get the ball on the 50 - and the way our defense has been playing, let's pin 'em deep."

It was the volume on first down after 3rd down conversions that was impressive... as well as the noise during TV timeouts.

My concern at the time was if they did score, there would be no time to counter... but the flipside is a 3 & out might finish with 6 min left, and might see USC punt and ask their D to get the ball back.

Were those your expectations? I understand that most people did expect that, and if you didn't why you'd be perturbed today.

My expectations were what they always are. Win. Let the Iowa's of the world celebrate hard fought losses.

I understand it isn't always going to happen but the trend I'm seeing of people being satisfied with showing them we have the same level of athletes they do type of thing scares me to be quite honest.

That's understandable. If anyone didn't believe we had the same athletes, they haven't been following closely enough. Sadly, this program hasn't performed like it has in the past in "big games" and people are content with keeping it close. I agree that shouldn't be the case because tOSU can, and should, win those games. And the fans should expect that.

Did Torrence just decide to freelance on that blitz?

My point exactly - it worked and the defense had them pinned inside the 10 yard line. Why let off the gas? Most likely sour grapes on my part (not to mention the cumulative disappointment of high-profile losses), but a little killer instinct from the coaching staff would be a welcome change.

But enough of that. Even though I swore off ever watching another Buckeye game in the immediate aftermath of last night, I'm already looking forward to next Saturday. Bring on the Rockets!

I am wondering the same thing. Why are we afraid to let our backs and wr's make some plays out there??? Everyone else is doing it
