maybe, maybe not... i know that he was a better back overall than Boom Herron. It also would make USC decide a bit more what they wanted to try to stop. I don't believe they respected the run game at all and so it allowed for them to drop lb's more and attack the QB's with little regard to the run game.

That's fine, and I understand the idea, I just don't think Wells is worth 32 points. And as far as I recall, Beanie didn't play defense  I could see the argument if it was a much closer game that he would have made the difference... I just think that with USC's defense last year, with that linebacker corps, there wasn't going to be much happening either way.

Anyway, I'm excited about this game. I'm concerned about O'Dowd returning in a few ways... he's still listed as probably and would be kind of pushing it to come back so soon. At the same time he's a huge part of the offensive line and one of our best guys. On the other hand, if he gets re-injured by coming back too soon, that's bad for morale during the game and it also means a lot of potentially bad things for the guy going forward, considering he's a practically guaranteed first-round draft pick right now.

Mostly I'm hoping to see Barkley have a great day out there alongside the running attack. Personally I'm seeing a potentially high-scoring affair, with both teams' offenses being their primary strength.

I did not think he said Beanie wouldve made THE difference, but rather A difference.

I think that's a pretty short sighted comment. OSU drove to the redzone (or close) twice early, and came away with virtually nothing. What is harder to stop from 3 yards out, 4 handoffs to a 250 lb battering ram, or Todd Boeckman on an option play?

With their franchise back, they likely punch it in once or twice, and it's probably a 7 pt game at halftime. Instead, Todd's mistake opens the floodgates, the NC game demons that haunt them are now cackling, and OSU never recovers.

Do I think OSU would have won with Beanie? No, but it would have been a different game.

Yeah the other thing is that the bucks went out there down a bit because they all thought Beanie was a go and he practiced on Tues then the training staff pulled the plug on thurs night right before the team left. I feel the team could smell the same result coming without him. The first quarter and a half went fine but after the penalties that cost OSU points and the Pick 6 mentally i feel as if they kinda packed it in. 21-3 by no means is a game over, but without one of your biggest offensive threats and USC knowing for sure that the pass was the only way they get beat, they pinned their ears back and dropped in coverage. Game Over. Boeckman just couldn't handle that pressure well and needless to say he wasn't the starter anymore.

Not to change the subject but I just set my DVR since I'll be at the game and I realized that NASCAR beat out this game for ABC's primetime coverage..... What A JOKE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think that's an oversimplification. No, he wouldn't have scored 5 TD's. But, he made our offense go. Without him gashing Texas, it might've been a similar story in the Fiesta Bowl. Beanie was someone you had to gameplan around, even a D as talented as yours. I think Beanie makes it a competitive game and gives us an outside shot at a victory. Not making excuses or trying to take anything away from your win. Injuries happen. Just speaking hypothetically.

am i the only one who weirdly/kinda hopes that the usc d does cause some good pass rush against pryor, that way when their dline and lbs are 5 yards deep in our backfield that pryor takes off and has only the secondary to avoid?

I think USC will stay disciplined. I don't see Pryor gashing their LB's. Most of his rushing yards will probably come from the perimeter.

Man, I think you guys misunderstand me.

I never said he wouldn't have made a difference. Obviously it makes for a different game and a different set of plays that Ohio State can run, and different things the USC defense has to look for.

All I was saying is that I don't think his presence was going to make the difference in the outcome of the game. Most of you seem to agree with that, so I don't see what all the argument is about.

I also think that the majority of fans don't realize the magnitude of psyche in a football game. It can cost a game. And his presence, regardless of how he did, raises psyche and in turn causes less mental mistakes and keeps guys focused. Things that assisted in the 35 points on USC's end. Irregardless, the largest distraction this week has been TP's eye black, which is a little less distracting than "your all american, heisman hopeful of a starting running back may or may not go...... yep he ain't going".
