Anyone, speculation aside, know how well USC fans travel? Will there be droves in Columbus, or barely able to cover their ticket allotment?

The 2-5 thousand USC fan nation that has to pay for their tickets travels very well. The rest of their fan base gets in for free with their press passes so its hard to count them.

[ArrogantUSCFan]Psh. We live in Southern California, why travel when you can go to the beach. There are plenty of better things to do than go to football games, even in our own city. So why travel?![/quote]

Just kiddin. :wink2:

If the SC fanbase traveled well, SC would be in the mnc hunt more than they are. {see sec or big-12!}

The purpose of the playaction fake is to show the ball to the defense. Depending on the defense, the defenders' responsibilities often change once the QB drop gets the QB past the the RB. Showing the ball to the defenses reminds the LB not to complete his drop, or freezes him. The USC running game is excellent and that demands respect for the playaction fake.

Yeah, I understand the concept of play-action, although the purpose is not to show the ball, it's to convince the D that the ball is in the RB's hands. That is much less effective when the QB is staring at a WR while waving the ball in the general direction of a RB. Barkley looked like he was walking thru pass drills. And it's not the LBs most affected by PA, if they were expecting run, they wouldn't be dropping anyway. It's getting the safeties to take a step up, and making the DEs switch to the RB. As I said, there was only one time in the highlights where there was a defender close enough to Barkley to touch him before the throw, and he was sacked. That was against SJSU, it should be a different story with Gibson and Williams coming off the edges. Barkley's tells in his PA motion should be a big red flag to the Buckeyes watching film this week. That could lead to increased pressure from the pass rush, and DBs jumping on the pass routes. You can bet the speed on defense between SJSU and OSU is going to be night and day.

How well did fans travel for games against Va-Tech and Arkansas? I don't foresee a turnout like we had from Texas in '05, but am certain it won't be anything to sneeze at either.

Remember the disparity between OSU and Miami fans in Tempe? It will be worse. They don't travel well at all.

I use Miami as the parallel because you can say the same thing about both fan bases. They are a mile wide and an inch deep.

"That this is fun. This is easy. This is what I was made to do,"

OK, enough of being nice. We may not win this thing but if the D doesn't come out and beat his bitch ass half to death I'm going to be more [censored]ed off about that than losing.

That may have been fun and that may have been easy but that was San Jose State you arrogant little prick. Here's to Thad Gibson showing you what he was made to do.

You may be confusing arrogance with confidence. I watched Matt during his high school career at Mater Dei and he has always been a competitive and confident youngster, never arrogant.

It is interesting that you are not comfortable with Matt Barkley enjoying football and having fun playing the game. Maybe it?s not universal in CF but at USC our players and coaches truly enjoy playing the game, it is fun, and they are thoroughly prepared to do it exceptionally well.

I remember during my years at USC watching coach John McKay on the sidelines with only minutes or even seconds left on the clock, the outcome of the game on-the-line and he would be smiling while working with the quarterback during a timeout. Asked later by reporters why it looked like they were enjoying themselves and having fun he said it was because they were. John McKay loved the game, his players loved the game and they had the most fun when it was all on the line with time running out. Coach PC has very successfully repackaged this concept for the 21st century.

It is sad that some unfortunates fail to grasp this concept. Matt Barkley and the entire team will be well prepared and confident this Saturday as they always are and they will have fun playing a game they love. We know that if we do what we are capable of doing we have a great chance for another victory. You will have a great contest with us on Saturday that will be long remembered by all CF fans! Have fun and enjoy!

Fight On!

maybe I am and maybe I'm not.

Funny that the first thing such a humble kid wants to do after his first college football game is run his suck about how easy it is.

I truly don't give a fuck who is having fun and who isn't. My issue was with the comment about how easy the game was and being born to do this. All the time I've lived down here and listened to the Tebow stuff I've never heard him spout off about how easy the game is for him. But hey, Barkley didn't refer to himself in the 3rd person so I guess that's a start.

Some unfortunates? Glad to see you have such a firm grasp on the whole arrogance vs confidence concept yourself. :roll2:

So ummmm The "Big Ten" is going to be playing against USC in the horseshoe?

Really?

You didn't hear? ESPN - at the urging of Mark May - teamed up with the NCAA and allowed us to field an All-Big Ten team to match up against USC and their five time Heisman winning QB, Matt Barkley.

Barkley is very religious and actually believes its his destiny to play quarterback. Its not arrogant its just confidence.

No, I think most of us know the difference between arrogance and confidence. Saying the biggest challenge he had during the game was running up the tunnel at halftime comes off as pretty arrogant to most people. I'm sorry some unfortunates can't understand that.

I suppose you don't see the absolute silliness in a comment like that? Let's see, God talks to the USC quarterback and in one of those discussions, Barkley learned it was his destiny? Or does he just kind of feel his way through the delusion.

I guess the only thing left is to ask the question, can he talk to Elvis too?
