South Bracket Discussion

tOSU
Memphis
Texas A&m
Va.
Memphis has to get past A&M to play us. They have to win with the 3 ball. A&M has a more rounded offense but will have to be able to defend the three.
Va will have a hard game against Tenn (#5) will either have will a hard time beating us.
I don't see anyone beating us.

I am not sure where to put this so I guess I will stick it in our Region. I've found it extremely interesting yesterday when the brackets were being announced that there were some very "unusual" games in the first round and potentially in the second that matched or will match teams with coaches who have either coached at the opposing school or who has a coaching connection with either their first-round or second round opponent.

The reason that I bring this up is because before the brackets were announced all you heard was that seeding would be totally objective. In looking at some of the first-round games or potential second-round games some of those matchups are very coincidental if totally objective reasoning was used.

I originally was pretty afraid of Louisville more or less playing at home...but i am not so sure about that now...it depends on who goes to the game...I think there is a big chance that Louisville has the most fans there but then again if there are a lot of UK fans there i think there is no way that they cheer for their rivals and that could play against them...just a thought

Well, first off, any OSU-Louisville game would take place in San Antonio, so you guys don't have anything to worry about there. Second, UK fans aren't gonna bother going to the Louisville game just to cheer on the opposition, they have their own team to worry about. Lexington will be a pretty friendly place for the Cardinals this time.

Not a 100% sure about first and second round games, but the last time I went to Lexington for the tournament was in 2002 for the sweet sixteen. The locals didn't show up. What you do run in to is three quarters of the crowd is not rooting for any specific team, and people tend to root for the underdog in close games. Especially if they don't have any other rooting interest. Neutral sites like these are almost always weighted to the underdog.

Louisville has already sold their alotted tickets and are looking to get other tickets...There will be plenty of Cardinal fans there...

UK is in Chicago, so my guess is UK fans sell their tickets to Lexington back and attempt to make the fairly short trip to Chicago...

My feeling is the only two teams that could keep us from the Final Four are Memphis and Tex a&m.

Memphis scares me. All theyhave done is win, about 40 in a row!! no, I know it's 16 or 18 or something....

But when I see Memphis highlights on SC it's always shots of them SLAMMIN' the ball down. Nobody's laying it in pretty like Butler or Conley, it's one-handed MAN JAMS, the kind Sports Center likes. Not their big man, either, it's their 2 and 3's doing it. So, not much logic to what I'm saying, but with their record and the APPARENT athleticism of the team they scare me.

But overall, I say we have a decent chance of winning our bracket and going to the Final Four.

If we don't win it all, does that mean Oden comes back next year?? What about if we win it??

Golly gee, he's just starting to have some real fun ---- I hope he decides to come back next year.

Go Buckeyes!

Nobody in C-USA has Greg Oden standing in the paint. I think they'll find it a bit tougher to MAN JAM with him around.

ok the first round games are;
tOSU - CC
BYU - Xavier
Tenn - Long Beach
Va. - Albany
Loius - Stanford
A & M - Penn
Nevada - Creighton
memphis - N. Texas

Who are your picks and why?

tOSU - CC (well duh)
BYU - Xavier (tougher conference, I just got better vibes about Xavier)
Tenn - Long Beach (Lofton too much for Long Beach. Plus that's a lot of travel for LBSU)
Va. - Albany (LET'S GO HOOS!)
Loius - Stanford (Stanford has been a giant killer. Only team to win in Charlottesville against UVA. Plus Louisville has some discipline issues.)
A & M - Penn (Acie Law.)
Nevada - Creighton (Nick Fazekas)
memphis - N. Texas (again - duh)
