i am 33 year old factory worker and adoring father of one 7 year old.Grew up loving osu sports going to school and playing football with Dan "big daddy" Wilkerson at Dunbar high.I also followed who was at the time an upper classmen Mark "shake n bake" Baker carerr since a 7th grader at stivers jrhs. which made my interest in osu grow even more.Life long dayton resident and dreamt all my life of being a part of osu athletics, unfortunately for me Cooper did not recruit 5'5" db.Inspite of that the older i grew and the more i learned about osu the more my passion grew. I now have a finished basement in my home completely dedicated to the scarlet and gray.I would like to thank everyone for all the great threads and welcoming me to the planet.Hope to see everyone at the spring game.

Born in Columbus, raised in Westerville. Started attending OSU games when I was 3, and dreamed of playing football for the Bucks since I was 5 (season tickets thanks to my mother working as a nurse at OSU Hospitals). However, I was a much better soccer player, and played soccer and lacrosse through my high school career. Favorite tOSU players are Snow, Tovar, Bynote, Finkes, Fickell, George, Glenn, Katzenmoyer, Winfield, Cacchio, Wilhelm, Nuge, W.Smith, & Ginn. Graduated from Westerville South HS in 2002, and currently attend University of Toledo (UT). I'll graduate with a major in marketing next spring, and turn 22 next month.

I've been following Buckeye recruiting since signing day 2001, and have been hooked ever since. Longtime viewer of VG's site. I defended him on Bucknut$ when he was uncerimoniously canned from there, was excommunicated by the mods, and haven't posted there since. I recall Brandon Joe's recruitment very well (I have a good story about it too), have had personal conversations with UT Sr wide reciever Lance Moore (WSHS grad), and grew up with UT Jr wide receiver Steve Odom (friend since 3rd grade, and have the pictures to prove it). Big UT football fan, but HUGE Buckeye fan. Have not attended a HS football game in 2 years, but could easily attend Toledo-area games or Central Ohio (particularly WSHS) games if I get the fire finally lit underneith me to report on or film.

Originally from Newark, Ohio, I've been a hard-core Buckeye since 1969, when a family friend brought this 6 year-old a Buckeye team banquet program signed by Jim Stillwagon, my hero at the time. I dreamed of playing for Woody, and then Earle, but never came close. I went to tOSU for undergrad from '81 to '85, and experienced great moments like 3-1 over UM, Byers' lost shoe run, and the Iowa game in the rain of '85...best 4 years of my life, living in the "The Castle" at 10th and Highland on South Campus. Loved it so much that I stayed for 4 more years for medical school.

I love all things Buckeye, but some of my favorites are the drive to the game with The Buckeye Battle Cry blaring, the ramp entrance of The Band, and every minute of every game on a crisp fall day in the Horseshoe.

Favorite Buckeyes are Woody, Archie, John Hicks, Eddie, Spielman, Vrabel, Michael Jenkins, and Hawk. Also idolize the greatest golfer ever, Jack.

Currently live in Cincinnati, and road trip to as many games as possible, including recent classics like Purdue 2002, The NC game, and our recent Alamo Bowl.

Former Bucknut from startup days, much happier here!

Go Bucks! See you at the Spring Game!

Originally from Centerville, OH and now finishing school up at Miami University in Oxford, OH. I had always been a Buckeye fan growing up, but not to the point that I'm at today. I remember the day I became a HUGE Buckeye fan. It was probably the middle to end of January in 2001. At that time, I found out one of my best friends had been offered a scholarship to be a kicker for tOSU. From that point forward, I followed the team, went to a lot of games (free tickets helped that out a lot, especially for a college student) and watched every single game I did not attend. I know that I'll continue to follow the Buckeyes in the years to come as well as whatever NFL team ends up with that kicker we weren't sure was good enough to kick at tOSU after his freshman season.

OK, Ok. I've been looking at this site off and on for several weeks and I guess it's time to finally add to it. I grew up in Dayton (Kettering). Born in 43, my dad and four uncles were all serving in the military. I graduated from Fairmont High School in 1961 when we were the kings of southwestern Ohio football. Played drums in the band and tried out for TBDBITL... made it all the way to the dress rehersal and then got cut.

I became an OSU fan in 1950, listening to Marv Homan broadcast the Snow Bowl game. My sister was a freshman in 53 and that's when I saw my first game. I entered OSU in 1961 and was invited to spend the 62 -63 school year contemplating all the errors I made during my first year. When I came back to OSU it was on my own money and so I had to drop out a couple of times. I left in 1967, just 12 hours short of my degree, to complete my ROTC requirement. I finally managed to earn my degree in December of 71, ten years after the end of my first quarter... that's some kind of record for determination if nothing else.

I've seen at least one game a year at the horseshoe since 53 with the exception of two years when military service made it impossible. Heard the 68 Michigan game and the 69 Rose Bowl games in a bunker, next to my tent, in Lai Khe, Vietnam, home of the First Infantry Division. (Story was featured in the November 2002 edition of the Alumin Magazine) Was suppossed to be Woody's escort when he visited the division following the Rose Bowl but he was held up in I corps (DMZ area) by a monsoon storm. Managed to get photo gigs on the sidelines for the 69 - 74 seasons.

I started teaching and coaching at Moeller High School in 1980 and was their track and cross country coach for 12 seasons and then an assistenat coach until 2002.

I retired from the army as a Lieutenant Colonel in 1997 after 4 years of active duty and 26 years in the reserves, including a year in Vietnam and 6 months working logistical issues from the Pentagon during the First Gulf War.

I will retire from my current teaching position at the end of this year and hope to do more college teaching (I've been an adjunct professor with the English Department at Miami Univ.) and much more writing.

I hope someone will mail me a CD(s) of the 69 Rose Bowl game and the two Notre Dame games to go along with my two vhs tapes of the Fiesta Bowl victory over U of Miami... (those are the very sweetest of my Buckeye memories). I look forward to having daytime hours to post on BP, watching my collection of past Buckeye games, and cursing the game of golf.

I grew up in Worthington and have been a lifelong Bucks fan. One of my favorite early memories was the amazing goal line stands against UM in the '72 game. Needless to say I took Woody's hatred of tSUN to heart and cannot forget where Woodson, Grbac, Desmond Howard, Dierdorf etc. came from...

My first game in the Shoe was '78 Penn State where there was little to cheer about after seeing Art Schlister run onto the field to make his debut as a true freshman.

I earned a BS from tOSU in '81 and moved into enemy territory to work for GM as a Metallurgist. I enjoyed stirring up things between the "State" (MSU) guys and the Meeechigan guys. My nickname in the department was "Buckeye". After three years I returned to tOSU for Grad school, and okay maybe for the football.

Among the highs and lows of my Grad school years: witnessing the amazing '84 Illinois game in the Shoe (yes I was hoarse at the end of that game) and suffering through every second of our complete humiliation at the hands of Indiana in Earle's last season.

After getting a PhD in Materials Science I did a post-doc overseas and spent a ton of money calling a toll phone number to get score updates on Cooper's first bowl game, the loss to Auburn.

I now live in Westerville, am happily married and work as a Development Engineer.

My birthday is Nov 22, which has been more of a curse than a blessing. My 21st was ruined by Anthony Carter. Due to the Cooper years, I have shied away from planning birthday celebrations on THE GAME weekend. However, thanks to Coach Tressel things are looking up.

My favorite players are numerous but pound-for-pound Antoine Winfield is the best hitter I've seen.

From Athens, Ohio but grew-up in Norfolk, Virginia. My father was in the Navy and was stationed at Norfolk for 9 years. Moved back to Ohio for high school, and am curretnly serving in the United States Air Force from Grand Forks AFB, North Dakota. I NEVER miss an Ohio State game. If it means listening to it on the radio, ordering Game Plan, or watching it on ABC, I'm there. Went to the Ohio State/Iowa game this year, it was a very sad day for me. This year I plan to go to the Ohio State/Minnesota game. Favorite Buckeye player of all time?

Except for five years in MD, I've spent most of my time in and around Columbus. I was raised in and still live in Westerville and much to my fiance's chagrin, spend a large amount of my spare time following the beloved Buckeyes.

I'm a lifetime Buckeye, with the exception of a couple of years in the 80's when I found myself rooting for the 'Canes. I don't know how the hell that happened. I guess I was just young and stupid. It must have just about killed my father when I asked for a 'Canes shirt for X-mas one year. Fortunately, I have since come to my senses and ended up back where I belong, rooting for the Bucks.

It's just about impossible to pick a favorite Buckeye. That's like asking Refrigerator Perry which Big Mac he liked best. If I had to pick one right now, it would probably be Mike Doss. You gotta love a guy that says he is coming back to win a national championship and then does just that. He may not have been the best db we've ever seen in Columbus, but I loved his leadership. Hopefully, his example will continue to encourage players to stick around here. It seems to have worked so far with Jenkins, Smith, Hawk, & Holmes.

Thanks for the great site!

Well I've been a member for awhile, but never have sounded off so I guess I will now. I'm a columbus/orlando native moved back and forth my whole life, but have always had my priorities straight being a Buckeye, Browns, Indians, and Cavs fan. Went to Brookhaven H.S. and Orlando Edgewater. What else do you say in this thread, I guess i'll list some favorites.
Favorite movies- Big Lebowski, Boondock Saints, True Romance
Favorite drink, beer, shot- Long Island Ice Tea, New Castle, Tequila
Favorite band- White Stripes
Favorite buckeye moment- Ted Ginns tipped pass TD vs. Indiana this past year(It was right in front of me and that was my first game at the shoe)

Also I'd like to thank everyone for their contributions to this site, mine have mostly been limited to the romper room, but thanks to you guys my internet activity has become more rounded.

Man I can't wait for football season to start and I'm excited to meet some of you other members at the spring game and to pick up my kick ass BP shirt. GO BUCKS!:osu: -BigSlick

I haven't been a member for long, but I've had a lot of time on my hands recently, so I let my brother convince me to join. I do a lot of worthless stuff when I'm at work - just be thankful you aren't subject to it all. Anyway, I grew up in Worthington, currently live in Cleveland, and I've been a Buckeye fan basically since before I knew what football even was.

The first game I ever watched was when #1 Iowa came into town and Ohio State beat them in the rain. I was in the 4th grade, and it was pretty confusing. First, we beat the #1 team, shouldn't we be #1? Second, the funniest thing in the world was when Sonny Gordon blocked the punt in the endzone and the ball hit the TV camera.

Basically, I have all kinds of junk that goes through my head. Some of it sticks, but most falls right back out. Hopefully, I won't bother you with most of it. But here's what I did with myself the Monday after The Game this past year. Enjoy.

It was Football Season in Two Thousand and Four
And the OSU Bucks found it too hard to score.

With close wins over Marshall and then NC State
Then a loss to Northwestern something we’d all hate.

Then a couple more losses to some pretty good teams
Made a good-looking season a far distant dream.

Then two wins over cupcakes and one in Lansing
The latter not pretty, but Ginn had us dancing.

But the Bucks were too high and Purdue shot them down
Big Blue was up next to try for their Big Ten crown.

Michigan had lost just one lone, single game
Early that season to that hated Notre Dame

They’d beaten the same teams that had beaten our Bucks
Columbus was gearing for chanting “YOU SUCK!”

The Bucks got the ball first and they got a first down
And on third down and long Troy Smith went downtown

It was caught by a freshman number eleven
Mike Nugent’s kick put the Bucks up by seven

Michigan responded with a long, drawn-out drive
Avant’s touchdown reception and Blue fans were alive

Then the Bucks had to punt and the Blue scored again
Then they traded punts but they didn’t punt to Ginn.

What could the bucks do with the ball on the one
With an offense so crappy, how can this game be won?

A ninety-nine yard drive and a tied football game
The Buckeyes looked awesome Blue's defense was shamed.

Soon the Buckeyes were inside the red zone again
But they played as though they just didn’t want to win

Michigan then punted from deep in their endzone
The Buckeyes were determined to set the game’s tone

Nugent’s short field goal put the Bucks up by three
And with the half winding down we sang “Hang on, Sloopy!”

The Bucks got the ball back and time still to go
Another Nugent kick - he’s got quite a toe.

The Bucks led at the half with a lead of just six
Thanks to Kicker Mike Nugent and his two good kicks.

The next half began much like the first half ended
Then Michigan punted Ginn had them upended.

Still later that quarter no score to speak of
A nice pass to Holmes and to the endzone, he dove.

The fourth quarter came with Michigan down twenty
They knew that they needed scores - they needed plenty.

A pass to the right side where Edwards was running
Was picked off by the Buckeyes - Youboty is cunning!

The Wolverines tried again To Edwards, left side
The deep pass was complete and inflated his big pride

But the Bucks did not quit and soon they scored too
Another three point attempt - the kick did fly true

The game ended as such - Thirty-seven, twenty-one
The fans rushed the field - Our team has finally won

For at least the next year, everyone can say
Go Buckeyes! Winners bleed Scarlet and Gray

Spent a few formative years in South Dakota, and 1 year of high school in Europe, other than that, have grown up in Gahanna.

Didn't really start following the Buckeyes until I started attending in 1994. Graduated in '98 in Anthropology. Have made trips to the Rose Bowl and the Big House (Charles Woodson game).

My family went to high school with the Tressels in Berea so we were really pleased when JT got the coaching job. Most of my family has attended OSU for either an undergrad or graduate degree (sometimes both). I have a cousin who is currently in the marching band.

Just joined this forum this month, but have read various posts over the years. Don't post too much, but it's nice to have a place to ramble and rant from time to time

Favorite Buckeye:
Jesse Owens

The first song I learned was 'Carmen Ohio'. Grew up in the Lucas/Havlicek/Siegfried/Nowell era in Columbus, and was privileged to see Kern/Tatum/Stillwagon/et al play Purdue (1968 - saw with a bud from Purdue), and rabidly cheer in the 1969 Rose Bowl, watching the boys throttle the Juice (except for an exciting 80 yd scamper). Have been to 6 Rose Bowls since, with the last being with Germaine/Boston/Katzenmoyer actually performing a 2 minute drill and beating Arizona State. Matriculated at Miami University, got an MBA from Ohio State in 1975 (watching Archie tear 'em up), and then a MA in Ed AD from San Jose State (hey, moved to California in 1971 waddya expect).

Still a rabid Buck fan (all sports, from football, basketball, to wrestling, baseball, softball, syncro swimming). I always look for them all. Took my wife (an Oklahoma native) to see Wyoming (full stadium in August), and then to a meatchicken game and she tells me, 'now I understand'. So she accepts me as I am. Get alot of flack from the Pac-10 folk (especially the University of Second Choice (USC) fans recently, but wear my 2002 National Champs ballcap on the golf course, and of course had my flag sticking up during that run (amazing how many people honked and waved here in California).

Favorite Buckeyes
Wayne Woodrow Hayes - had the pleasure of meeting and hearing him several times. Truly a great man.
John Havlicek
Jack Tatum
Jim Stillwagon
Jerry Lucas
Jimmy Jackson
Joe Germaine
Jack Nicklaus
Pete Johnson
Orlando Pace
AJ Hawk/Bobby Carpenter - almost indistinguishable
To whomever conducts themselves with skill and dignity on and off the field in the name of the Buckeyes.
Jim Tressel- is fast approaching, keep the GPA's up, graduate more, beat Michigan.

Born and raised in NY and became a Buckeye Fan early in high school when I started watching college sports more often, which made me apply only to tOSU. Now I'm a junior and couldnt be happier with my decision.

Go Bucks! :osu3:

I grew up in Grandview Heights, which is close enough to The Shoe to hear the crowd cheer . Attended the OSU and met my soul mate while playing drinking games in the North Burg on High St. I know the Burg is not there any more. That was in the great Buckeye year - 1968! We both graduated and married, and the adventure began. We have lived in 10 different states, due to chasing job opportunities. And every place we have called home, we have exhibited and shared Buckeye pride. We now live in upstate NY, and this is it. We make an annual trip to Columbus, walk the campus, buy gear and cheer for the Bucks in the Shoe. Last year Mr. NYBUCKEYE surprised me, while we were at the Shoe, with a OSU class ring. Yes it is possible, love still is alive after 34 years, and the annual trip to Buckeye land is full of great memories of wonderful times!!!!!
