Some BCS facts for your SEC friends

Do you believe that LSU will have an advantage over the Buckeyes on account of crowd noise in the Dome? Do you think this year's OSU team might have played in a few venues that were as loud if not louder than what they will face in the Dome?

Actually I have no info on that, just responding to someone that said the Dome didnt sound loud last night. :)

See yall at the DOME...

P.S. The vast majority of the fans were Georgia fans and when Hawaii took the field they (Georgia fans) made their presence known. From chants of S.. E.. C.. to Over... Rated... Actually had a Hawaii fan look at me and say what does SEC mean????

Wait, what does sec mean? other than 20% of a margarita.

Home field advantage is something fans love to argue about, however, has little impact on the actual game being played (flame on).

Oh yes!! Thank you so much for this information! I live in Atlanta, Georgia and I am surrounded by SEC Fans. I get so sick of hearing about their "tough schedule." I now have more information to battle with. Thank you so much. Go Bucks!

I just don't get the "S.E.C." chant. I really don't. I would feel like a complete moron if I found myself sitting at the Capital One bowl watching Skunkbear and Florida and I started yelling "Big Ten, Big Ten, Big Ten!" It's really absurd. The SEC didnt win the Sugar bowl, Georgia did. The SEC, like the Big Ten, is an imaginary entity. A lose association of real entities for the purpose of mutual benefit. Why not chant "Eastern European Union! EEU! EEU!"

As for "over-rated" pretty classless. Especially in the case of Hawaii who came in 12-0 and was ... what 12th? 10th? and, more importantly... is fucking Hawaii. That's like chanting "over-rated" at a fucking kids soccer game.

I don't get you SEC people.

I gotta disagree about the home field advantage thing. I think it is hyped to some extent, it doesn't have as much impact as commentators let you believe. I didn't play college ball, but even at the high school level we were more pumped for home games than away games. Away games you might ride a bus for an hour or more, college you travel farther. When the majority of the fans back you, you get a rush when theres a big play and the ovation from the stands hits you. The adrenaline is amazing. You can still feel that when you knock your opponent's teeth in on his home turf, but it feels amplified at home. During away games, if your opponent gets ahead of you by a few scores, the crowd can certainly help take players out of the game mentally and emotionally.

Purdue's Black out did not affect Ohio State
Penn State's White out did not affect Ohio State
Michigan's Maize out did not affect Ohio State

I don't get it either. I guess when you're the butt of many jokes, have piss-poor edumacation systems, etc; then regional pride over college football is all you got to hang your hat on.

The way I see it, SEC fans are like that kid we all knew in elementary school that had like 12 favorite teams, so that at any given time, he could always brag that one of his teams was winning. The average Auburn fan, for example, realizes that Auburn has only been to one BCS bowl. Therefore, he becomes an SEC fan so that he can still puff out his chest if the SEC representative(s) to the BCS win their games.

That's one theory. The other theory is that by promoting the SEC as the toughest conference, the typical SEC fan has an excuse for why his team didn't, once again, make it to the NC game and has 5 losses, namely because his team plays in the toughest conference. If the SEC does well, the SEC fan thinks he can make the ridiculous claim that even though his team has 5 conference losses, that team would go undefeated in what he perceives to be one of the lesser conferences.

The thing about getting pumped up for home games is that goes away after a few snaps. It also changes as you go up levels. So, in high school, itll be a much bigger factor...just as it'll be a bigger deal in college than the nfl. Net net, I dont put too much weight on it, and thats just my opinion.

Pretty ridiculous all around. Sort of like the always classy U...S...A chants. Southerners haven't been allowed to chant C...S...A since the civil war, so I guess that SEC is all they have left.
