• Follow us on Twitter @buckeyeplanet and @bp_recruiting, like us on Facebook! Enjoy a post or article, recommend it to others! BP is only as strong as its community, and we only promote by word of mouth, so share away!
  • Consider registering! Fewer and higher quality ads, no emails you don't want, access to all the forums, download game torrents, private messages, polls, Sportsbook, etc. Even if you just want to lurk, there are a lot of good reasons to register!

So... what's up with the new advertising?

Wondering if it's ever been kicked around to try an associate compensation/referral program? I was just reading the Jim Tressel thread, then it dawned on me that if BP registered for an associate account with Amazon.com, BP could be pulling in 4% for every click through directed to Amazon that sells a book. Wouldn't be a bad deal with something like the Winner's Manual that you could naturally promote through a banner ad or "sponsored" link.

A lot of BP visitors are buying this stuff anyway, so enrolling in the Amazon associate program could encourage BP'ers to buy from Amazon (cheap) while also supporting BP (4% kick-back minimum). Also, this wouldn't be restricted to just books. BP could be earning 4% on copies of, say, NCAA by incorporating links to that in the Games forum, etc ...

Just an idea! :)

Did you happen to note what banner was loaded on that page at the time? Less than honest advertisers attach those surveys to static ads, so in order to strike them down, I generally need to know what caused them to load.

No, I didn't think to look for that, if it occurs again I will let you know.
