Why would the investigation take this long and how did tOSU not know it was going on?
There's plenty of reasons that could have happened. Maybe there was an undercover officer still running an operation, and the police waited until the operation wrapped up before filing any warrants and publicizing anything. Or there could have been other people under suspicion who might have been warned off if news of a warrant leaked before now.

Whatever it is...I'm guessing it means there were others involved. If it were a simple "he sold pot to an undercover cop", the arrest would have been immediate, and there would have been no need for a 3-month delay.

Remember, though...I'm just speculating at this point. Just like everyone else.

omg......

god damn idiot. if this weren't bad enough, this will cast a very dark cloud over our program... having someone take money is one thing, providing a player with a car is one thing... but to have a member of the team be a drug dealer.. parents are not gonna like that.

Here jerkoff.... here's a scholly so you can get a great education for free. Here's a spot on the roster of one of the greatest football programs in the nation. Here's a chance to prove yourself in front of NFL scouts and a spot in the pros making millions of dollars. Here's a chance to set your family up for life. Here's a oppurtunity to be part of the Buckeye family that will embrace you for the rest of your life no matter where you go.

Well.... what do you have to say about all this?

UUUhhhhh.... thanks man, wanna buy some weed?

2 words.... fucking moron

Way to make your parents proud. They were probably looking foward to see you play and bragging about you to all of their friends. Now they have to bury their heads in shame, because you made the decision to piss it all away.

Good riddens!

Well, it sure as hell doesn't help us any, does it? I am not sure that this will play that big on ESPiN or anywhere.

It was marijuana and we had a recent president who inhaled. Many Americans think it should be legalized, so maybe not that big a story. He's a junior player who has never played for the Buckeyes. Sure, he hit a good kick in the spring game but Huston got his 6th year, so this may not really hurt us.

Here is the link to the relevant Ohio law http://www.legislature.state.oh.us/bills.cfm?ID=123_HB_528

It appears that the earlier posts are correct, he did not have to actually sell drugs to be "trafficking" but to have them ready for sale would be enough. I am puzzled because the act refers to a charge of "aggravated trafficking". Some of you legal types, does that indicate that this is a lesser charge or that it just is a bit of a sloppy charge sheet or what?

Grad, I also think that this looks like a longer term operation going after a bunch of people and that he has been tagged while they pursued bigger fish in a network. How incredibly silly and how unfortunate to go from next year's kicker of note to an also ran college drop-out, if he gets convicted with a felony.

I guess my poor athletic skills account for my lack of understanding. I would have given anything to play for the Buckeyes but couldn't even get playing time at Brookhaven. I would have kissed my own ass everyday if I had been lucky enough to get a college scholarship and to play. I just don't get it. Why would anyone take the chance of throwing that away? I just don't get it.

As for ESPiN, let's just see how they react to this. It's a second team player who would not be seeing any real action this year. Tressel has immediately suspended and, if guilty, will probably throw him off the team. Let's just see. Maybe they do want to be friends.

Buckeyes kicker suspended after drug trafficking arrest

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Ohio State kicker Jonathan Skeete was suspended from the team indefinitely after being arrested Wednesday for trafficking marijuana.

Skeete was arrested by university police. The school provided no other details about the arrest, though a news conference was scheduled for later in the day.

"We will evaluate his status with the team after this issue has been resolved," coach Jim Tressel said in a statement. "This is a very serious issue and will treat it as such."

Skeete was redshirted last season. He converted two field goals in Ohio State's annual spring scrimmage last month but missed an extra point.

Guys we are talking about pot here and not real drugs right? And yes, there is a big difference. No it does not excuse him, and yes it was dumb. But it is freeken pot. Normally anything > than 1oz is trafficking. I used to blow through that in a weekend.
Go ahead, fire away. I obviously am the minority.
This post may actually be dumber than Skeete trafficking drugs. Maybe I just need the memo that explains which drugs are "real" and which ones aren't. Now head on back to the left wing and hug a tree...

That stereotype is pretty far out there :)

As I said, Around 80% of everybody I know smokes weed, and they are not tree-hugging hippies. It always is the person selling it that gets condemned though. Same goes for everything, not just drugs. Cops always go to the source, cause it would take them forever to arrest the people that actually smoke it. Kinda stupid if ya ask me. If weed is illegal, alcohol should be as well.

Mind you I am not defending this kid, he's a tard for pulling something this stupid and blowing a major opportunity.
