If he didn't like his NFL options, this was a good move. He can coach, so he'll make Michigan better in his 3 or 4 seasons before his personality starts to wear thin and the right NFL gig rolls his way. It will sting them when he doesn't stick around as long as they had hoped, but this is the splash Michigan needed in the short term after hiring a terrible fit and a guy who was in over his head. Plus he will leave it better than he found it.
