Hairball has been undeniably successful everywhere he has coached in terms of win percentage and building programs. But In light of recent (alleged) findings, I think his success can be mostly attributed to employing cheating techniques he may or may not have picked up in the NFL.
Maybe it was technically legal, like Venebals' methods, but after decades of doing this stuff, became so brazen over the last couple years he felt like he would never get caught and started doing the same stuff in very illegal ways. And again NFL inspired - taught by his brother John's assistants, who were there just long enough to get these methods entrenched and running efficiently.
It is possible his simple football way could be the reason for his success over the years, but constant cheating makes a lot more sense to me.
