Not just because I hate him, I don't see any other way you really read this last plot twist from the NCAA after they added the "Not a cheeseburger" bit.

NCAA: "we see your plea deal and counter with a hearty 'go fuck yourself'

They are sending a message. 4 games isn't going to do it and getting out in front of the PR by debunking the cheeseburger straw man. He lied to the NCAA investigators about whatever the hell he actually did (recruited during COVID for one).

This is their swan song year, he's going to be gone this off season. No way he sticks around for the punishment and the public disclosure of him lying to the NCAA about it.

The funny part is that we are finally going to see how much, if any, real interest he has from NFL teams.

If my hunch above is accurate, what really is going to matter is did the athletic department and university administration assist Simple Jim in his obstruction and lies, and it can be as simple as they were aware he was violating the rule but sat on the info. Because if they did, that's "lack of institutional control." Remember that we were given the lesser penalty of "failure to monitor" because we (correctly) turned Tressel's ass into the NCAA. Had we not, it would have been much worse.

Not sure how I feel yet about Harbaugh getting to run away before the sanctions hit ala Pete Carroll.

Probably depends on the result of The Game this year. 2-6 (and 2-2 vs Day) is a lot sweeter than 3-5 (and 3-1 vs Day).

Sending him out a loser would just be so, so nice.

And if the sanctions are big, seeing Michigan fans turn on him would be the cherry on top.

I mean he's hiked his skirt for the NFL two years in a row. In both cases, they had no interest. I will go to my grave believing that the all day interview in Minnesota was a sham meant solely to fuck with him and embarrass him in retaliation for what he put the SF front office through. Remember that the guy there had worked at SF during Simple Jim's time there, and everybody there couldn't wait for Simple Jim to GTFO.

Outside of a national championship, what could possibly move the needle for an NFL GM to take the chance on this lunatic.

That's what I'm finding funny in other parts of the interwebz.....scUM fans are acting like this is Jimbo "owning" the NCAA when the exact opposite seems to be the case. Jim and Manuel offered a deal and the NCAA said"Nah, this is a little more serious than you think and we are going to investigate further"

DFBIA gonna DFBIA.
