>UM takes out "insurance policy" on Harbaugh
>But Harbaugh owns the insurance policy
>Ergo, if Harbaugh is the coach on Jan of 2017 and 2018, he gets an additional 2 million bucks in the form of a loan he can draw against and the University will pay back.
>If and when he leaves UM, they can file the insurance claim against it and be reimbursed
>This effectively makes his University paid salary $9 million for 2016
>He was 10-3 last year

Two quick thoughts:

1). Don't let anyone from UM every tell you they are hard up for cash. That athletic department is pissing money

2). In what world does it make sense that Jim Harbaugh is paid more by his University than Nick Saban is paid by his University?

Has Nick Saban ever played for a Super Bowl?
