I signed up for the beta a few weeks back; I received an email today with the code to play this weekend. However, it's PC only.

If anyone wants the code send me a PM and I can share it with you.

Edit: code was given out.

I got to play the beta this past weekend. We only got 1 hr of total game time, so you really didn't get to do much. And it crashed a couple times on me.

Overall it looks like it is going to be a fun game. I have played every SimCity that has been released, and this one looks to be the easiest to start making money off the bat. I have no idea how years into the game will be because the tutorial really stressed doing things to keep the rich around and not letting them get bored. The whole online region and making deals with your neighbors is a really good idea if you ask me. This gives everyone a chance to specialize in one thing and get money for it.

I will definitely be buying this game, and probably playing for many, many hours.

1 day away. Sadly, no pre load. Oh well.

Anyway, who is in for a BP multiplayer?
I am.

I'm wondering how different my play style will have to be for this incarnation of the game. I used to play this with lots of throwaway worlds. I'd take a few through to lift-off, and then set up various scenarios and try to hit goals by earlier and earlier points. Though I wasn't as obsessive about it as with Railroad Tycoon III - I'd play the same scenario dozens of times to see just how quickly I could hit goals. I'm tellin' ya, I'd be a whiz at reincarnation.

I'm in. How does this work? I'm guessing we don't want all the cities in our region to be Casino cities.

Not sure yet. I will try and figure it out once I get into the game.

My Origin name is Mc6arnagle (I assume that is what we will end up going by in game, not sure if you can change it).

I figure most cities will be a complete mess as we find out the way things work. I have been reading PCMag's ongoing review (he updates as he plays). His first city became an absolute disaster as he got to higher population levels.

Do we draw straws and make the lower handle the industrial and trash dumping zones? :p

P s. I am in. If I get the above, I am naming it McClellan.

It should work out organically. Too many gambling cities and it won't be much of a money maker while the demand for industrial work and garbage dumping will go up. At least that is how I think it will end up working from what I have read. I have no problem creating a trash town named Ann Arbor.

Amazon says my copy is on the way. I haven't played Sim City in years, so I probably won't be doing MP any time soon.

Considering there has not been a legit SimCity released in over a decade, you will not be alone. I am sure my first few cities will be a disaster.
