Signing Day '08 Discussion

I'll be very curious to hear what brought this on... aTm I can understand.

It does not seem to be competition, as Cal has a talented frosh returning in Best and landed Deboskie today, a blue-chip RB that Michigan wanted (along with Bama & FL).

I think a scholarship opened up after the Kevin Hart situation

11:51 a.m. Nasty Side Of Recruiting
This is where recruiting gets nasty. Detroit defensive end Nick Perry just announced he will sign with USC, and a few Michigan fans have begun flinging insults at Perry on their message boards. On TheWolverine.com, fans have called Perry names that won't be repeated here and accused him of accepting gifts from USC.
Some more rational fans have responded by telling their buddies to cool it, but the few have besmirched the reputation of the many. Obviously, most Michigan fans -- or fans of any school, for that matter -- never would think horrible things about a teenager trying to chart his future, but a couple of crazies make everybody look bad.

Petrino Makes Big Splash
Bobby Petrino has made his first big splash on the recruiting scene as Arkansas coach. Little Rock (Ark.) Central Arkansas Christian cornerback Joe Adams, a longtime USC commitment, announced today that he would sign with the home-state Razorbacks.
Petrino seems to have had little trouble convincing recruits to come play for him, which comes as a bit of a surprise. I thought all the negativity surrounding Petrino's exit from the Atlanta Falcons would give players and their parents pause, especially after Falcons safety Lawyer Milloy called Petrino a "cancer." That apparently hasn't slowed Petrino, who proved at Louisville that he can win big at the college level.

Stud DE Leaves Texas A&M In The Dust
The coaching change at Texas A&M may have cost the Aggies one of their top prospects. Weatherford, Texas, defensive end Kapron Lewis-Moore, who committed to Dennis Franchione's staff last summer, signed with Notre Dame on Wednesday. Lewis-Moore and new coach Mike Sherman's staff at A&M never connected, so he made a switch.
The hypocrisy continues from the schematic advantage.

WVA recruits to scUM?

Now that the dust of signing day is settling a bit, do any of you who follow the scUM recruiting know how many WVA recruits DickRod was able to switch to scUM? Today's Cleveland Plain Dealer has nice story about one guy, DJ Woods, who DickRod was not able to get...he went to Cinn. instead.

If they don't get Pryor the Bucks still have a seasoned QB who was good enough to lead them to the Big 10 championship and a back up who's a potential spread QB in Henton.

If Michigan doesn't get Pryor they're stuck without a QB with ANY B10 experience and a coach with ethics problems.

And if he heads to Penn State Joe Pa will figure out a way to minimize his impact.

I think I'll take OSU's situation.

Howdy Buckeyes. I wanted to log on last night or this morning to wish y'all good luck, but I drank to much xxxxx Scotch yesterday (Mardi Gras). I didn't really read much of this thread, how's it looking for y'all so far? What kind of ranking is Scouts or Rivals giving for OSU? And any rumours as to who Pryor is going to eventually sign with?

Supposedly tOSU also wanted Garrett Goebel's teammate RB/FB/LB Dex Jones, and continued to recruit him after he committed to Wisconsin. He hasn't officially signed yet and may be a player to watch. He's very underrated and I could see why the Buckeyes wanted him. He runs like an Eddie George/Brian Leonard type. Here's his video reel: http://wisconsin.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=770592

Going very well. Scout has us #8 last time I checked which is pretty amazing considering we only have 18 commits at the moment...five of which are 5*. The TP decision, as expected, was pushed back which has sent some people scurrying to the ledge, but everybody in the know and with a rational mind still fels he ultimately ends up in Columbus.

Glad to see ya around these parts, hung over or not

Pryor's family wants him to visit PSU, so he will do so before deciding. Not much concern there.

I don't think U-M took any actual WVU verbals. What did happen was that some guys who RR was recruiting to WVU but committed elsewhere - they are now U-M commits. Barnum, Roundtree, Taylor Hill, maybe Shaw, maybe Britt, maybe Pryor.

Hopes and Dreams

I am as addicted as anyone else to all things OSU football, BUT.

Here we are planning our hopes and dreams on the decisions of 18-19 year old kids. It is even worse at the high school level where I coached. Our professional lives rest on the efforts of 15-18 year old kids. Think about the sanity of all of this for a moment.:osu:

Heck man, nothing wrong with that!! I was told Scout has us at 5 right now, which is higher than I expected, and Bama is at 1 (which means we gotta listen to that smack down here for a while).

How's the rest of the Big Ten shaping up? Anybody putting together a group y'all should be worried about? What about fat Charlie over at ND?
