Signing Day '08 Discussion

I don't put too much stock in 'recruiting service class rankings' and what tools like Tom Lemming think. All I need to know is that Coach Tressel and his staff are recruiting intelligent young men with good character and outstanding ability. This is most definitely a class to be very proud of.

"Blah blah, blah b-blah...trust the coaches."

In all seriousness, I would like to thank everyone that contributed to todays business.
This is the first year I've kept an eye on the recruiting process with any regularity. The time and effort that must go into putting all of these individual athletes threads together is unimaginable. And to think, everyone involved here at BP does it for the love of the Bucks. I checked one of the pay sites today, after jwins posted some of the pics of the guys signing their letters. The pay site didn't even have a check mark in the box titled "Signed LOI?" beside Howard and Sabino's names, yet I had seen pictures of them actually signing  And it was free. That part being immensly important to me, being that this is the time of year when money is tight. You don't know how thankfull I am for that.

Peace-

Whoops, I meant BUCKYLE.

Howdy Buckeyes. I wanted to log on last night or this morning to wish y'all good luck, but I drank to much xxxxx Scotch yesterday (Mardi Gras). I didn't really read much of this thread, how's it looking for y'all so far? What kind of ranking is Scouts or Rivals giving for OSU? And any rumours as to who Pryor is going to eventually sign with?
Hey man! Welcome back. Urban turned in all of your players to the NCAA Clearinghouse, so maybe you can sign more next year.

We lost a backer to the other scUM - which is going to play a 2-5 defense apparently, and we lost one to scUM north. I am happy with our class, as we covered needs perfectly, and have room next year for more. Miami can't take 60 guys every year, so maybe we will get some love from Dade County eventually.

The Clown College out west did not do well, so all is good. They have the usual good ranking, but as always they have oodles of gray-shirts, non-qualifiers and ham and eggers on the o-line, save one guy that UGA and Florida passed on.

OSU did good. LSU did good. UGA did good. Bama did good. UF did good.

Kentucky is slipping back into its natural place in the universe. And I see where Zooker is #3 in the Big-10 last time I looked. Good for him.

A strong Big -10 is good for the Bucks. All in all a good day for the good guys, which is all of us.

Looking at this class, and we still have a great shot at Pryor, the glass is much more than half full.
Totally in agreement on this - the class (and glass) will run over should Pryor commit. Without him it is a great haul and it really addresses other needs with great quality.

Speaking of quality

Agreed ...- I was scanning the feeds here much more so than any other site. In fact after one or other site went belly up BP was the exclusive feed being watched. Love that iSpy. BP was to Bucknuts and Scout what CNN was to NBC and ABC on a specific night in the 90's - the one that actually worked like a news site should.
Not bad for a bunch of underpaid volunteers.

Kudos to all the newshounds, grafters and mods. Ahead of the curve, always up and always correct.

(And content largely free of the sky is falling lunacy either when Harris stayed home, or Jenkins did the same).

I don't know whether this is because the membership base really is that well-behaved or because the mods are quick at zapping anything that would reflect badly on OSU (some of both, probably), but kudos are in order either way. Michigan really needs to graduate a football-crazed computer science major because the best free forums we have are probably the GBW ones on Scout (which tend to crash this work computer for some reason, so I don't bother). Nothing special there. Thanks largely to three7 and some contributions from the BP recruiting team (who understandably are slightly more concerned with the home team than the rival) I was getting the fastest news on Michigan recruits from a Buckeye site. Our side is going to have to step things up :shake:

More the former than the latter, but the mods here are second to none. I think most of us realize how tough a decision these kids have to make, and the guys that go elsewhere aren't necessarily snubbing tOSU. Just going where they feel most comfortable.

Everyone was pretty well behaved... I was out shooting occasionally, but the only 'zaps' I saw were out of place discussions on Pryor (in the signing [to]day thread)

I think that a majority of the lunatic fringe remain on the scout/rivals boards where they can spew their chicken little crap with little to no resistance. The more rational posters who value quality over quantity tend to congregate here. Good luck finding useful information between the endless Pryor threads on one of those boards. Even if you do find a non-Pryor thread, some idiot inevitably invokes his name in that thread too. It's pathetic.

Maybe your boy Brian knows a fellow or two ...

If you could merge MGoBlog as a front-end with something like a BP it would make for one hell of a site.
