You're right. It's just that as long as King Football is alive and breathing, I don't think the necessary environment can ever exist to clean out the administration and BoT. This is a case of killing/cutting away the cancer first as a necessary prerequisite to healing the rest of the body.

I just think they need to figure out a way. If they DON'T figure out how to clean out the administration and BoT, then the football program becomes a martyr and those assholes can keep going on leveraging that martyrdom and pointing their finger at the NCAA for fucking them over.

It's not like they're going to shut down football forever... so I think it's more important to get rid of those assclowns than it is football.

No offense, alexhortdog, but I keep hearing people say paterno made "one mistake" and that's a load of horse [Mark May]. The man knew Sandusky was a pederast. The man knew he was bringing young boys on campus, to games, to practices, and so on. He knew it for well over a decade. 1998 is the year that keeps popping up, but this was his right hand man, and at one point appointed successor, so I have a hard time believing that's when he was first clued in. I think that just so happens to line up with when communications and records keeping became predominently electronic, and therefor more available.

I see your point on that one and totally agree with you. I also think that the dipshiats that are saying, "well, he did more good than bad," are full of...well, dipshiat.

This is definately uncharted territory for the NCAA and sports in general. It's going to be interesting to see what happens because no matter what, nothing will ever be good enough compared to what those young men suffered.

How about this, if Penn State doesn't want to shut down football:
1. They get 0 scholarships, starting this season.
2. Players are allowed to transfer anywhere, without sitting out a year.
3. Schools that accept a PSU transfer get an extra scholarship to make room for the PSU transfer. There should probably be a maximum per team. 2 or 3.
4. PSU should have to pay for the scholarships to the players' new schools.
5. All money made in football (before it goes to fund any other sports teams) goes to some foundation for abused kids.
6. Maybe all scholarship athletes from all sports should also be allowed to transfer.

That's a start...

This is just a roundabout way to cancel the season. They likely wouldn't have enough players to have a sufficient team.

eft a real I know full He didn't make "a mistake", he chose a path, and continued on it knowing how fucked up it was...right until he hacked out his last evil breath.

+1 That's the problem right there....They act like this was a one time mistake. Fact is this was an everyday decision to forget about the kids and go on about his business.

And on that note... a really good read from CNN:

The woman who stood up to Joe Paterno

By Ann O'Neill, CNN
updated 2:44 PM EDT, Sun July 15, 2012

Vicky Triponey knows all too well the power Penn State's late football coach, Joe Paterno, held for more than half a century over the insular slice of central Pennsylvania that calls itself Happy Valley.

She experienced firsthand the clubby, jock-snapping culture, the sense of entitlement, the cloistered existence. It's what drove her five years ago from her job as the vice president who oversaw student discipline.

She was told she was too aggressive, too confrontational, that she wasn't fitting in with "the Penn State way."

She clashed often with Paterno over who should discipline football players when they got into trouble. The conflict with such an iconic figure made her very unpopular around campus. For a while, it cost Triponey her peace of mind and her good name. It almost ended her 30-year academic career.

Another person might have felt vindicated, smug or self-righteous when former FBI Director Louis Freeh delivered the scathing report on his eight-month investigation of the Jerry Sandusky child abuse scandal. But Triponey sensed only a deep sadness.

DAMMIT DELANEY!!!

PED STATE ORDERS TO GO SEEK LIFE ELSEWHERE STOPLOSSED BY JIM DELANEY

The Big Ten's recent additions of Maryland and Rutgers were motivated in part by a concern of losing Penn State to another league, according to Wisconsin athletic director Barry Alvarez.

Speaking Friday to the Wisconsin athletic board, Alvarez said Big Ten commissioner Jim Delany wanted to add teams in the Northeast to ensure Penn State would remain in the conference.

Big Ten Blog

ESPN.com's Adam Rittenberg and Brian Bennett write about all things Big Ten in the conference blog.

"Jim felt that someday, if we didn't have anyone else in that corridor, someday it wouldn't make sense maybe for Penn State to be in our league," Alvarez told the board, according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. "That they would go into a league somewhere on the East Coast. By doing that, it keeps us in the Northeast corridor."

The Big Ten added Maryland on Nov. 19 and Rutgers on Nov. 20.

Delany described the moves to ESPN.com as "an Eastern initiative with a Penn State bridge." Delany said in a text message to ESPN.com on Friday that he doesn't want to comment on what others are saying about the expansion rationale.

Asked last month whether he had any concern about losing teams from the Big Ten, Delany said, "No. Not in my view. But I do think that you need to build, and this build really solidifies the expansion we've done in the past. We've done one in the East, we've done one in the West [Nebraska in 2010]. I would say the driving force is demographics, but when you look at it, you can't help but think this is good for Penn State as well."

What are you freaking out about? Delaney's job is to protect the strength of the conference and its network. Not sure what's so earth shattering here.

Besides, historically speaking, you've been part of this conference for about 2 weeks. :wink2:

Good luck drawing any meaning out of whatever he answers you with, if he answers.

Mike is being Mike, always knowing what other people really mean no matter what they say. It's a neat trick, since no matter how they respond you can always claim they're lying and you were right all along.

Thankfully, few people want to emulate him.
