Sharrif Floyd (official thread)

Scout $ - Floyd Dismisses Rumors

Floyd says the stories about the "dream" text from Meyer are totally false. He addressed it with his HS coach who says he doesn't know anything about it. He's all Gator regardless and Florida is actually the only school to not mention religion during recruiting.

I would have been a lot more likely to believe this denial if SF had not added that Florida was the only school not to mention religion.

I think he's just embarrased to admit it and is having some second thoughts. Whether that means he decommits or not I don't know, but that was a pretty dumb reason to commit to Florida when OSU led all the way...

Silly comments. I see no basis for thinking he's less than thrilled with Gainesville and the Gators. And you have no basis for saying a young man's reasons for committing to a particular school are "dumb" or "intelligent."

Unless, of course, he commits to TSUN; then it's self-evident.

In a weird and twisted turn of events, between Sharrif's committment to the Gators, UF's lack available spots in this class, and Kiffin pooping on the Vols, we are back in on Chaz Green.

What a crazy year of college football this has been.

If he's embarrassed then he's realized the truth, and if he's seen the truth then he won't sign with Florida. So are you saying that he won't sign with UF?

Notwithstanding the lack of any causal connection in your logic, I think your question was answered before you asked it.

Why does it lack causal connection? If he's embarrassed about it, then that means he realizes that he's been duped right? If the "dream" was a key thing that turned him away from OSU to UF, and he realizes that it's not true plus that he's been duped by his possible future HC, then he will sign somewhere else, no?

what you failed to understand is that: Feeling embarrassed does NOT = Realizing the truth. He MAY be embarrassed about the way the "story" came to light, but can still fully bought into Meyer's "vision".
tunnel vision is a dangerous trait.

So tell me, what about the way the "story" came to light makes it embarrassing?

Please tell me you are not this dense.

If the story is true, SF can

1) Switch his commitment to another school and admit the Meyer made those statements. The trouble with this option is you have to admit to the general public that you have been duped. By the way if you did do this you will open yourself to lots of questions from reporters looking for stories.

2) Switch his commitment to another school, but deny the story. Of course those same reporters that would ask you questions in option 1 would be after you why you switched.

3) Stay a Gator and make the case that Meyer is a prophet from God.

4) Stay a Gator but deny the story.

If you can not see that option 4 is the least embarrassing I don'y know what to tell you. It would take an exceptionally mature 18 year old to do anything else.

Seriously? I'm the dense one? You're the dense one to suggest that 3 and 4 are even options. It's obvious that your hatred for Meyer and UF is clouding your reasoning, so let me take them out of the equation.

Let's say you got suckered into some scam money-making scheme, say a pyramid scheme or something. You found out the truth, and now you have the 4 options you listed above.

1) Take out your money ASAP or at least cut your losses and admit to your friends and family that you got duped.

2) Do the same thing except making up another reason for your failed investment.

3) KEEP YOUR MONEY IN and claim to everyone else that it in fact is a legit scheme.

4) KEEP YOUR MONEY IN and deny that you were ever in it.

Can you honestly tell me that options 3 and 4 are sane? Recruits decommit from schools and give other reasons to avoid embarrassment(like not having an offer in the first place, or not having the grades to keep the offer, or bad off the field behavior got the offer withdrawn, etc. etc.) ALL THE TIME. Why can't Floyd do it?

I actually like UM and I really not that upset that SF chose UF. I am only making a point about human nature. I contend that most people will not opening admit things that put them in a bad light. In fact most people will bend the facts and rationalize the circumstances in such situations. Recent history is replete with examples that prove my point. I guess you must be the exception to the rule. When you make a mistake or do something that might cause embarrassment, you let everyone know.
