Shaggy Texas - Shaggy Bevo, Thujone, MS Pain, Butt Hurt, and BBQ (RIP)

They are going all in Kia Locksley whom I think is more of a project QB... Else they'll go the graduate transfer or Juco route.... I like Charlie... I think he's gonna get the raw deal in Tejas because of an unreasonable fanbase.... if he doesn't come away with a QB he needs to pray Hurd steps up ....

If they can figure things out at QB, they will probably be in good shape after a few years. Strong has culled the heard, so to speak, and the talent is rich in Texas. He is in a difficult position, as Mack slowly killed the program it allowed teams like Baylor, TCU, and A&M to rise up a bit. Strong's a good coach though, and I think if he's given a few years he should right the ship. He did pretty well at Louisville given the circumstances and he learned a lot under Urban during his time at Florida.

Problem is, Texas is bleeding much of that talent now to other Texas programs and OOS programs. Five years ago, kids grew up wanting to be Longhorns, and they got a lot of that talent just based on their stature in the CFB world. Kids being recruited today don't remember when Texas was a regular near the top of the polls. Vince Young is from a prior generation. Strong's a good coach, but I'm not sure he's the dynamic personality/recruiter they need to turn things around. TCU and Baylor and even Aggy are much more attractive to 16-18 year old kids than Texas...which is like a dinosaur to them. Add onto that an unreasonable and unrealistic fanbase, and I'm not sure Skrong will get the time to turn them around.

I agree, and made the same statement that other Texas programs have passed UT by in recent years. I think the mystique is quickly fading for A&M though, their Manziel luck may have worn out. Sumlin can do offense, but his defense can't hang in that league. Baylor and TCU certainly are rolling, and Patterson seems to be there for the long haul at this point, not sure about Briles. Strong has a pretty good class on paper for this year, but they are lacking that QB which is their biggest area of concern. If they can get that situation figured out, I think Strong can get the Longhorns in decent position within their conference in a year or two...but you're right, he may not get that long to prove himself. He's going to have to find a way to win with Mack's recruits or he'll be out on his ass.

I don't know how Briles is doing it. The school has a pretty decent academic program, but Waco is a potential enema insertion point. He has to go up against Texas, Oklahoma and Aggy. They may have had recent success and new facilities, but Baylor couldn't fill Jerryworld for a New Years Day bowl game in their own backyard. The team and the sidelines looked like a rogue's gallery and acted like it. One thing is sure; he has riled the Longhorn faithful into a foaming-at-the-mouth level.

No Signing Day drama. RT @max_olson: Kyler Murray is officially sticking with Texas A&M. He spoke with @HamiltonESPN: http://es.pn/1zbZy4G

Rough week for Texas football. Horns lost long-time QB commit Zach Gentry to Michigan & now come up empty chasing QB Kyler Murray vs A&M.

Texas still needs a QB. Badly.

A QB from the state of Texas has finished in the Heisman Top 5 for seven straight years. Colt McCoy was the last one to play in Austin.

It would be somewhat epic to see Gentry flip back to UT, since Murray is no longer in play.
