SG Mark "The Shark" Titus (Official Thread)

Yeah, Mark seems kind of timid on the show. Then again, who wouldn't be in that situation. At least when you're writing funny stuff, you get a chance to read it over and make sure it's NCAA legal before you press Submit.

He was kind of timid in the interview I was a part of too. He was still funny though. Haven't listened to the Simmons thing yet.

/still waiting on a grade on my article by the way

Mark is really not timid at all...It isn't just because he is behind a keyboard, but when talking to ESPN I am sure that just about everyone would be a little timid...

18. The best tourney blog (other than this one) ... is Club Trillion, from little-used Ohio State guard (and former team manager) Mark Titus. He's the guy at the end of the Buckeyes bench who intentionally wears a towel around his neck, in order to be easily identifiable on TV. Among the recent nuggets revealed on Club Trillion is the fact that mustachioed freshman center B.J. Mullens is obsessed with watching Lonely Island's I'm On A Boat before games.

Brownsburg's Titus -- a blog superstar
Posted by Patrick Dorsey

He finished his junior season at Ohio State with this stat line: Two games, two minutes, one rebound, one steal, zero points.

So why does former Brownsburg basketball standout Mark Titus hear his name chanted at games? Why does he get recognized all over campus and even get autograph requests, at home and on the road? Why are various news outlets -- from his hometown paper to Ohio TV stations to ESPN: The Magazine -- profiling the guy?

And why has he appeared on ESPN super-columnist Bill Simmons' B.S. Report Podcast not once, but twice?

This is why.

The background: As an Ohio State walk-on, Titus and a few other benchwarmers created their own "club," called Club Trillion. Why "Trillion"? Because "trillion" is their term for a typical end-of-the-bench player's stat line: 1 minute, followed by a bunch of zeroes.

Eventually, Club Trillion co-founder Titus took to blogging -- just as a diary or a journal, he said, on the free-to-use site Blogger.com. Pretty much, he just wrote for himself. But soon, the mix of humor, links, YouTube clips and other amusing bits caught on. And big.

"It's been crazy -- everywhere we go on the road, people recognize me," Titus said. "I've gotten a lot more attention than I could ever imagine from it."

"I honestly had no expectations with it, and for it to achieve the level of success that it's had is kind of incredible."

Furthermore, I want to go on record as saying that I vow to never carry a firearm into a night club, and if I do, you can rest assured that the safety lock will most certainly be on. I am also volunteering myself to do every ?NBA Cares? commercial, because let?s face it, the guys who do those commercials could really care less if inner city kids can read ?Go, Dog. Go!?

This post takes a little bit of political cojones-the Indiana of Mr.
Titus is coming through-zero political correctness, I like it. David
Stern would never admit this.
