Everyone at Ohio State has got a favorite story about guard Mark Titus. Heck, everyone has several favorite stories, many of which have to be ranked chronologically, as in, "my most recent favorite story is ..."

"There are catwalks above the Schottenstein Center (OSU's home court)," center Kyle Madsen said, "and he decided it would be a good idea if he went up on the catwalks and started throwing basketballs down, trying to make it in the hoop. We heard from the employees that his name was all over the radios, "Titus is on the catwalk! Titus is on the catwalk! Get him off the catwalk!'

"He's always trying to create some kind of stir. Not a problem, but some sort of issue I guess, to get everyone going. He's not trying to keep the peace, that's for sure."

Which is why Titus, his arm in a sling after career-ending shoulder surgery three weeks ago, was doing a phone interview with a Knoxville, Tenn., radio station, on Thursday, and why his ratio of interviews per minute played has got to be the highest in the nation, considering he's played just 18 minutes this season.

"He's a nonstop comedian," center Dallas Lauderdale said. "It's a nonstop comedy with him. I'm honored to be his teammate."

Wow... this blog is about to get more interesting, if it is possible.

There were a couple of points in there that I had to make sure I didn't laugh too loudly for work.....

Club Trillion: Second Chance at The Big Dance

As Jim Jackson turned to shake my hand, something triggered in his mind that he had already met me 100 times and it prompted him to say, ?How have you been?? How have you been? He didn?t ask me how I currently was doing. He asked how I?ve been. This means he didn?t want to just know about my present state, but he also wanted to know about everything leading up to my present state since the last time we talked. This marked the first occasion of me meeting an Ohio State legend for the umpteenth time and them remembering me. Do you have any idea how many times I?ve been introduced to Greg Oden? I still don?t think he knows who I am and I?ve been friends with him since 8th grade. (What?s worse is that I?ve been introduced to his penis one more time than I ever wanted to. Thankfully, his penis doesn?t know who I am and, by the grace of God, I pray it never will.)

Shark week: Titus seeking opinions from Kimmel, Simmons
By Nick Otte

Updated: Sunday, April 18, 2010

As a friend of then-Ohio State freshman Greg Oden, Mark Titus began his OSU basketball career as a team manager. However, shaky camera work, lazy water bottle filling and sub-par punctuality quickly forced him back into the general student population.

But when injuries left coach Thad Matta?s roster dwindling, Titus was again asked to help out ? this time as a player. He joined the team in 2006, and in just four years Titus went from being a lowly walk-on to a Buckeye legend.

The question now, as Titus approaches graduation at the end of Spring quarter, is where does he go from here?

No longer will he have his cushy seat at the end of the Buckeye bench, and like so many other graduating seniors, he is soon to be thrust into the real world.

Although he doesn?t have any specific plans, Titus, who is majoring in marketing, said life could take him just about anywhere.

?As far as a career, I don?t really know what I want to do,? Titus said. ?I thought about acting or writing scripts. I?ve thought about being a sports writer. I?ve thought about everything, I guess.?

Fortunately, he has a few people looking to lend a helping hand.

?I?m flying out to L.A. to meet with [ABC?s] Jimmy Kimmel and [ESPN?s] Bill Simmons, and we?re going to try and figure something out,? Titus said. ?I thought of some stuff that would be fun, but I haven?t really tried to pursue anything seriously because I?m going to wait and see what they have to say.

?I don?t really know,? Titus said. ?I?m open to anything.?

What does Mark Titus do next?
April, 23, 2010
By Eamonn Brennan

Like all college graduates, Mark Titus has a world of uncertainty ahead of him. Titus built an empire around his Club Trillion blog, but now that his basketball career at Ohio State is over, he has to decide the future of what was, during his tenure, one of the funniest college hoops blogs anywhere and easily the best athlete-written blog of all time. What should Mark Titus do for an encore?

Turns out, he'll keep writing the blog. And in the meantime, he'll be establishing a scholarship specifically for college basketball walk-ons. This is the best idea of all time:

Because I lived it for two years, I know exactly what walk-ons have to go through, which is why I plan on starting the first ever scholarship exclusively for Division I basketball walk-ons. [...] As far as criteria for the scholarship, it?s pretty simple really. It will be given to the guy who essentially reminds me of myself the most. A majority of walk-ons try especially hard to fit in, are terrified of upsetting the coach, and are always a little uptight over just about anything. Guys like this will have no chance whatsoever at winning the scholarship. Instead, I?ll be looking for the guy who pulls pranks on his teammates, interrupts his head coach midsentence to make immature wisecracks, and knows the lyrics to at least ten Journey songs. Also, bonus points will be awarded for growing a sweet mustache during the season. I think you get the idea.

Titus says there are some issues with compliance to be ironed out; the scholarship might have to be given retroactively thanks to NCAA regulations. There's also the little matter of actually raising enough money to give a scholarship like this every year. But those are mere logistics, and in this case, the logistics are secondary. Let's celebrate the idea. The Mark Titus Scholarship For The Advancement Of Basketball Walk-Ons. That has a nice ring to it, huh?

O.K., am I allowed to say WTF to this? (based on the NBA basically demanding Mark withdrawal his name from the NBA Draft)

http://rivals.yahoo.com/ncaa/basket...hopeful-on-the-early-entry-l?urn=ncaab,237955

Story on Yahoo's front page about Div III kid who averaged 2 pts / game for an 11-14 team entering NBA draft after joking about it with friends.

"Attention-seeking pranks like this happen every year, but the fact that Sloan has a basketball background made it harder for the NBA to dismiss him."

He's on the official early entry list.

EDIT:
And to put it into context, read the Shark's blog from April 30, 2009
