SG Jon Diebler (2nd-Most Big Ten career 3-Pointers, Butler Recruiting Director)

He remains confident Diebler will.
"If he wasn't making them in practice, if he wasn't (making them in) skill instruction, I'd be really concerned," Matta said. "I think it's a matter of time."
So does Diebler's father.
"In two weeks, we won't be talking about this," he said.

These are my exact feelings as well...

Having watched Diebler a ton of times in HS, I have to believe that once he gets comfortable out there and the game slows down a bit, he will be fine. All he needs is a couple of easy buckets.

My above post from a week ago....I have been posting for two weeks that once the game slows down for him, he will be fine. It takes some time and varies for each incoming freshman. Conley and Oden are not the norm. Just for example. I know CB40 remembers Butler's struggles early in his career.

I think Diebler is going to have a strong game tonight against UNC and will start to shoot the ball better. Even though many say he played in a weak conference in HS the man still avg 42pts ago, no easy thing on any level. So I think if he remains positive and keeps working hard his shots will start to fall..No need to get down on the kid after 5 games. Go Bucks!!

Thing about Jon is that he came from a situation where he was taking the majority of the shots and was given free reign to create. Right now he's hesitant because he's new and doesn't know his place within the frame of the team. It's kind of like David Lighty last year compared to this year. Last year he didn't do certain things that he could have done; this year he's more confident, partially because the big 3 are gone, and he's playing more freely, like he did as a star in high school.

I don't doubt that Jon could average 10 points, right now, if he wanted. He's just getting used to his place within the team and trying to widen the rope on what he'll be allowed to do.

He plays like a smart player, but he also plays like everything I said above, plus an inexperienced player. The drive he took, when he was called for a charge, after the drive that he scored on shows his inexperience at the college level; the charge he took shows his intelligence and discipline.

Jon is a scorer, no one can deny that. All he needs is to not forget that he's a scorer and to not shy away from being what he can be, having a deer in headlights mentality.
Good post Graveyard, it is right along my own line of though.

GREAT game by Diebler tonight. I was so happy to see him hitting those shots, and hear thet student section chanting his name.

He was much more confident. I'm looking forward to seeing if he can keep his stroke the rest of the season.

he was #3 on ESPNS top 10 basketball plays with that 3 pointer of the back .

By the way, that left handed dunk he had got me going when he's a
right handed shooter . He has some serious hops for a WHITEMAN and for those that could never dunk thats hard as hell to dunk like that

The best thing about that is that he did that to shield off thee defender...Just like Jo has been been preaching and it is easy to see this kid understands all angles on the floor and positioning...

Freshman ends slump in season's biggest test

It was the lack of performance that normally would have shattered any player's confidence level, no less a freshman playing his first collegiate games at Ohio State.

And when high school phenom Jon Diebler misfired on 31 of his first 35 shots this season in the Buckeyes' first five games, no one could have criticized him if he seemed a little reluctant to hurl up another potential brick. But in Wednesday night's 66-55 loss to No. 1 North Carolina, Diebler was anything but trigger shy.

Kenny Greer/The LanternJon "Mr. Ohio" Diebler had 19 points Wednesday against North Carolina as OSU was defeated 66-55.
