SG Jon Diebler (2nd-Most Big Ten career 3-Pointers, Butler Recruiting Director)

Diebler finished the game with 52 points, including 11 3s, in a 93-75 win against Bellevue.

Oh, did I mention that some guy by the name of Thad Matta was there, grinning ear to ear watching Diebler put on a shooting show.

Diebler broke his high school's career scoring record this week. Since he's only played 2 years at Upper Sandusky, he has pulled off this feat in 22 games less than the career leader (and still has nearly 30 games to go). He is averaging over 30 points per game in the past two seasons.

That is just crazy. How close is he to the all time leading scorer in Ohio.

He has quite a ways to go. I think these #s are correct...

All-time career points:
1 2,958, Jay Burson, New Concord John Glenn (1981-1985)
2 2,680, Geno Ford, Cambridge (1989-1993)
3 2,646, LeBron James, Akron St. Vincent-St. Mary (1999-2003)

Diebler:
Season: 611 in 17 games, 35.9 ppg
Career: 1885 in 67 games, 28.1 ppg

And Jay Burson's record was made without the 3 point line. He would have had probably at least 3200 points if there were a 3 point line.

He shot the ball from all over the court.

if he keeps his pace at around 30 points a game for about 30 games hell be in the ball park, throw in some of these crazy numbers he has put up lately and it could be real close.

any word on a possible transfer?

Diebler is right on pace. If he keeps averaging 35.9 he'll barely break the record. He'd actually end his career with 2962 pts to Burson's 2958. This could be fun to watch him make a run at the record.

Yeah unless he would go to a different school where he had more guys around him to score the ball I think he could break it.

It also depends on how far he takes his team in the tourney and how many games he gets to play.
