I think Cook should stay but he would be steal for a team late first or second round. His game is built more for the NBA then college he wasn't the only one who struggled everbody struggled down the stretch. I don't think he ever adjusted to the roll they wanted him to play as a stand still shooter he's a pure scorer and a scorer needs to put up alot of shots to get a rhythm. Before Oden started playing OSU was running and gunning and him and Lewis where putting up numbers but once Oden came back he had to try to adjust and he couldn't. Lighty did great because lighty is a role player and he played his role to a tee. But personally i don't think its a wise business move if he goes he could be a lottery pick next year maybe he thinks his stock will raise in the pre draft camps.

I don't think that any of these 3 will stay. The money is just too huge. Granted, they could all benefit in staying for one reason or another, Weight, stamina, shot range, footwork.
That doesn't change the fact that they will opt for the money. I don't think that any of them was going to stay four years. The only question was how long. None of them will turn down millions, even Cook who probably could benefit the most. But of the three he was the one whose game was more suited for the NBA rather than for college.

Huh??? He WAS the only one who struggled down the stretch. Everyone else's game improved immensely. They made it to the finals and he contributed basically nada. You don't make it to the finals with "everybody struggling down the stretch" as you put it.

I think it would be a putrid decision for Cook to declare for the nba draft right now. His biggest asset is probably scoring, but he only tallied single digits this year. That doesn't mean he was lacking in that area, just he wasn't given the optimum opportunity to prove himself. If he stays, next year, he'd be the #1 or 2 option on the team. That means a scoring average probably of the mid to upper teens, plus a pretty solid rebounding total. In other words, he will have proven himself. Unfortunately for him, there are too many questions about him currently, i.e.: the aforementioned numbers and the possibility that he's 6-4 which would make him not the ideal height for the 2 guard position. He's no lock for the 1st round. The 1st round equals guaranteed money, but the 2nd does not. Some pretty talented 2nd rounders who came out early (I'm thinking of another Cook, Omar) have gotten lost and nowadays, they make peanuts in the NBDL. This looks like a very deep draft since all the players that could have come out as high schoolers had to wait til this year, you haven't proven enough, stick around and enjoy yourself buddy.

We all wish he would stay but he is going to make his own decision , and he may have made that a year ago. He probably is costing himself milions going this year for the reasons you stayed.
He more than the other two professed a desire to go into the NBA this year.
I have never counted on him staying at all. He will make up his own mind.

Huh??? Yes you can and the team did it. Conley and Lewis played there hearts out in the tourney but Lewis, Cook, Harris and Butler all where inconsistent this year in there role i watched every game and shot selection was a little questionable. Don't get me wrong each game somebody would step up and play well but in my opinion when Greg was on the floor the team struggled to adjust. Lets look at the tournament and the beginning of the year everybody is playing great Greg starts playing ppl start slumping. Gregs in foul trouble Lewis plays outstanding then in the championship game he doesn't play that well with greg on the floor. Lighty's game improved immensely but as far as everybody else no lets not forget this is a young team. Lewis is a vet so he went back to the things he did in the beginning of the year when greg wasn't around and had some monster games in the tourney. Conley has been a stud the whole year best PG in the country. So maybe i was watching a different OSU but i watched a team who struggled to find an identity on the offenses end. We had alot of games during the winning streak that could have went the other way. There's a saying men lie women lie numbers don't and by looking at the numbers cook wasn't the only player that struggled.

If that quote is real then why isn't she a fan of Thad? What the hell did he do? My guess is he is like everyone else who actually cares about Cook who is telling him to stay in school a little while longer because he is not ready for the NBA. God forbid a coach actually tries to make sure a kid doesn't make a huge mistake.

You bring up a good point but they have to realize this isn't highschool anymore. There is a bigger talent pool and the best players will get the playing time. Hell even when he got playing time he didn't make many of his shots so what more could they want from Matta? Wake up family this isn't highschool. College offenses are more structured and so are NBA offenses. If he struggled with the transition from HS to College how could they possibly think he is ready for the NBA?

Your right. If it were me however I wouldn't want to take that big of a chance on messing up my future. Go back to school for another year, improve your game, and make yourself more of a guarantee to be drafted early in the NBA.

I agree, but they are not too happy with how things went last year, and probably want to make the leap to get started on the final step of his career.

Just my opinion on the matter but if it turns out in the end that they are indeed that unhappy I hope that he does leave. We don't need individuals we need great players who want to win games with their team and teamates. I would just tell he and his family good luck and hope it works out the way you want it to.

Very true, but she didn't need to say it to the media...not that it matters much to Matta or tOSU basketball, but it doesn't represent her very well.
