He is now a superintendent of the Edwardsville (Illinois) Community Unit School District #7, which explains why he has no free time to improve on his refreeing skills, thus resulting in lackluster officiating. Buford leads OSU?s Buckeyes to the NCAA tourney

?Here?s a good trivia question: what city has produced the most consensus All-Americans at Ohio State?
The answer is Toledo.?
?Dennis Hopson, former Bowsher star and Ohio State?s all-time leading scorer
Coming off a convincing Big Ten tournament championship and winners of 13 of its last 14 games, fifth-ranked Ohio State (27-7) enters the 2010 NCAA Championships as the No. 2 seed in the Midwest bracket opposite top-ranked and top overall seed Kansas.
Two years removed from a Libbey High School basketball career that included becoming Ohio?s Mr. Basketball in 2008 and a McDonald?s All-American, Ohio State sophomore William Buford is a main ingredient in the Buckeyes? latest quest for the program?s first national title since 1960.
The team?s starting small forward landed Big Ten third team honors last week after completing the regular season with the Buckeyes? second best scoring average at 14.3 points, and averaging 14.9 points per game during the Big Ten season.
?I?m honored to be all-Big Ten,? Buford said, just prior to the conference tournament. ?I?m coming on pretty strong and feel like I can help my teammates.?
Buford went on to average 16.7 points, 6.3 rebounds and three assists in Indianapolis during the Big Ten tournament. He connected on 20 of 41 field goal attempts from the floor, including shooting 6-of-12 in three point shot opportunities, in combined wins over Michigan, Illinois and Minnesota.
Buford?s defense was instrumental in the Buckeye?s run to the title. It?s something the Glass City native said is key to the team?s success.
?I think we feed off of our defense a lot. When we play hard on defense, our offense always follows through for us,? said Buford, following the Buckeyes? 90-61 dismantling of the Golden Gophers in the conference title game. Buford had three steals, four assists, and blocked a shot while scoring 13 points in the contest.

Buckeyes' Buford broadens skill set
By MATT MARKEY

In the Buckeye's second-round NCAA Tournament victory over Georgia Tech, William Buford overcame an off first half to record nine points, eight rebounds, three assists, and a steal.
( SPECIAL TO THE BLADE/JIM DAVIDSON )
COLUMBUS - William Buford came to Ohio State a year and a half ago as a scorer - a guy who could take the basketball and churn through Hades and high water to get to the rim. His highlight film was composed of 32 clips of Buford's significant offensive prowess.
The William Buford that goes to St. Louis this week with the rest of the Buckeyes to play in the NCAA tournament regional - two games away from the Final Four - isn't that guy any longer.
Buford's line in the box score these days is a string of digits that document how he has broadened his game, and become a much more valuable player for the Buckeyes. Ohio State coach Thad Matta has been more than a casual observer of this metamorphosis.
Matta remembers a wide-eyed Buford playing in Ohio State's cavernous Schottenstein Center last season as a freshman, his motor red-lining on just energy and enthusiasm.
"Last year, there's 19,000 in the Schott, and you could stop the game, walk out and say what's the score and how much time is left, and he'd be like, "I have no idea, but I'm having the time of my life out here. He was playing," Matta said.
Scout.com: Decision Time Looms For Turner, Buford? He knows I?m coming back,? Buford said. ?That?s up to him if he wants to do that. It?s his future. He knows I?m coming back.?
Asked if he felt he would have people in his ear telling him to turn pro, Buford said, ?Probably, but I only listen to me. I?ve got my own mind. We?ve got a real good team coming in next year. I?m going to try to soak this up and go on to next year.?
2. Sophomore William Buford, who has been talked about as a potential first-round pick, said definitively that he will return next season. Mike Conley said the same thing three years ago and then left to be the No. 4 pick in the draft. But I think Buford knows he can improve his draft stock a lot by serving as a go-to scorer next season, assuming Turner leaves, for what will be a very talented Ohio State team with a great freshman class coming in.

I think WB would benefit himself greatly by coming back because I think he has the potential to be a first-round pick with a little more strength and improving his ballhandling plus I just love the kid.:)
