SF William Buford - 4 BTT Title Games, most Buckeye starts (Virtus Roma - Italy)

Maybe recent early struggles from guys like Koufos and Mullens who left too early for the NBA IMO will make him at least entertain the thought of staying another year. Add Cook into the mix, who struggled to find time in the NBA early on and I think Buford's game is more polished for the next level than any of those 3 when they left. His defense is 100x better than it was last year (he actually plays defense this year).

I hate to say it but all it will take is another decent tourney run (more exposure) and good play from Buford (like what happened w/ Conley) and he jumps up the draft board to a mid 1st rounder.

You have to look at it the other way too though. Draft status is based on:

A: How good you are
B: Your potential to be better

With age, generally, A does go up but B also goes down. Sometimes the best decision can be to leave asap before the scouts can realize that your "B" is being way over-estimated.

Evan Turner significantly increased his draft status by staying for his junior year. In case you didn't realize that :). WB's numbers are just a little lower than Turner's sophmore campaign. That being said, I wouldn't be surprised at all if he declared this year.

Good overall performance and much praise for WB.

toledoblade.com -- The Blade ~ Toledo Ohio

COLUMBUS - Michigan entered yesterday's Big Ten game against Ohio State with the intention of forming a human corral around the Evan Turner.

Somebody else would have to beat the Wolverines, but it was not going to be Turner, a strong candidate for national player-of-the-year honors who had averaged about 25 points in Ohio State's three most recent outings.

It was going to be William Buford.

"The No. 1 thing I saw with Will was that he had great shot preparation and he got great drive in his legs," Matta said. "Will is Will - he just loves the game of basketball. He played well offensively, and our guys just found him."

He's exploding @ the right time of the year for the Bucks and the wrong time of the year for those who would like to see him return next season. Maybe Evan's decision will make an impact in keeping him around for another year and making a possible run for the title next year.

Evan has always seemed like a kid who cared more about the program than his individual stats, but wanted to leave his mark as an OSU great @ the same time. Regardless of whether he stays for another year or not, he's already accomplished that. Last year, I got the impression that Buford was a "me 1st" type player b/c he played like it. I'm starting to see Buford buying into the same concepts that has made Turner so great and putting his team 1st @ the same time being a dominant playmaker and scoring threat.

He seemed so lost last year and even @ the beginning of this year. His comfort level on the court is amazing right now. He is so calm and seems like he's really playing within himself. His shot selection has improved. He seems a lot more confident with his stoke. And I'm not just saying that b/c more are going in but b/c he's taking them within the framework of the offense. Better shots tend to go in more frequently if you are good shooter.

I thought going into the year that if he averaged in double-digits and improved his defense just a little he would bolt and become a mid to late 1st rounder. He has exceeded my expectations as far as offensive output and has really picked it up on the defensive end of the floor this year as well. He may just creep up that draft board a little higher.

I guess we will have to wait and see.

Go Bucks!!!!
