SF Sam Thompson (JB Monferrato - Italy)

This Magyar character sounds bad.
Magyar. He's a real badass, always hungary.

Back to Sam: he needs to work on his jumper over the offseason. With any kind of scoring threat beyond 6 inches, Thompson will provide such a defensive presence that it would be hard to keep him off the court.

Yeah once he adds a solid mid-range jumper defenders will stop playing him to drive only and should help space the floor and create better scoring opportunities for Sam and his team mates. I look forward to the work he can put in this offseason and improving on his role on the team.

Sam played great in the 1st half of the semi-final game against Kansas. Why wouldn't Matta play him in the 2nd half,?

I thought near the end of the first half there was a play where Thompson appeared to tweak his ankle. He was limping around on the floor for a while, and wasn't putting a lot of weight on it while someone else was attempting free throws.

Bob Baptist thoughts from practice

-- Thompson has been an afterthought in the offseason conversation because of the recruiting hype that accompanied Ross. My impression tonight was that their competition isn't close. I'd heard Thompson had a great offseason, and he played like it. He was sharp and played confidently, making the majority of his open shots when his teammates found him on the perimeter.

Ross was the opposite, appearing tentative and not playing with confidence. He looked like he's still trying to catch up from the time he missed last season, thinking more than playing. Then, too, some of his trouble might have been caused by Thompson, who will be another lockdown defender on the perimeter.
