I'm pretty sure, during the Northland game televised by eSpin on Saturday that the announcers said that Spoon was only 17.

Thanks for the info. I think this is definitely a good thing as he has additional time to develop and improve upon the weaker aspects of his game.

I know he is raw, but he is still pretty underrated IMHO. Give the guy time to refine his game and he will be a star in college. He has the highest ceiling IMO of the incoming class...

JD just oozes potential. If he works at it he can be an elite defender with his length and athletecism (I think this is his way onto the court early, think Lighty as a Frosh) I also have seen a couple of games and he seems to have a nice stroke from the foul stripe, which leads me to believe that he could easily become a pretty reliable shooter, and if he works on his handle, with his redunkulous hops, he could absolutely be a beast.

To be honest, the video was five minutes of wasted time. It did not show any of his talents other than dribbling with two basketballs and I would agree that the music was a little much. Not sure of the point of the video, other than getting more clips of him on youtube.

As for fellow freshman J.D. Weatherspoon, they haven't talked about a redshirt yet, but Matta said he wants him to learn how to defend 3-4 positions on the court like David Lighty. He is an excellent rebounder but still needs to work on his shot.
