SF LaQuinton Ross (Memphis Hustle - NBA G-League)

After not playing in last year’s NCAA Tournament, Ohio State forward LaQuinton Ross found himself surrounded by reporters yesterday. Such is life when you make a winning buzzer-beater one night earlier, as the sophomore did against Arizona.

“It doesn’t bother me, but I definitely don’t need it,” Ross said of the attention. “I could live without it.”

Ross seemed at ease with the national media crush and is just glad to be playing in the tournament — averaging 13.7 points in 19.7 minutes — after watching all five of last year’s games from the bench.

“That was definitely frustrating, but I ended up learning from it,” he said. “I’m a totally different player from last year.”

Conley was the #4 overall pick. The tournament took him from probably borderline lottery to top of the draft. Q's tournament probably took him from undrafted/second round to maybe end of the first. Next year, if he plays like we think he can, he can absolutely be a lottery pick.

Agree. It is all about where his head is at.

Ross put the team on his shoulders tonight to get them back in it. Even though it was too little too late, he really showed up when we needed him and showed that he can be a guy to rely upon. Hopefully he sees that there's still room to go before he hits the ceiling for the NBA and comes back next year. He can definitely be a 20+ppg anchor next year.

Anyone help me out here? LaQ said 'he'd be back' at OSU next year. A) was he thinking of going pro; B) Was he thinking of transferring?

Not sure which, very much took me by surprise when he said this on print/TV.

He'll need to pick up his D to get more minutes, like DeShaun has, in order to be an NBA pick, methinks. (or even to have Matta put him on the court more). Could probably displace Lenzelle as a starter to juice up the offense (if Deshaun stays). Hope Amir continues to grow, still like Ravenal's 'head' atop Amir's talent for one complete player.
