Nothing against Q but its already Big 10 time.. less practice time for Ross to show..he'll get minutes but I don't see 10 plus min a gameMaxBuck;2073042; said:I just don't see that we've seen enough of Q to make this comment. We have no idea how his game will develop over the course of the season.

Ohio State men's basketball: Ross still awaiting his chance to break out

For now, LaQuinton Ross is merely the lower-case urban legend at Ohio State. Fans have heard great things about him but have yet to see them with their own eyes.
The question is: At some point this season, will we?
?I?m thinking he might be a secret weapon we have come tournament time,? former Buckeyes point guard Scoonie Penn said.
That?s an intriguing thought. Penn was in the gym with Ross last summer when the 6-foot-8 guard quickly distinguished himself from Ohio State?s other incoming freshmen in one of the country?s top 10 recruiting classes.
?I remember he was playing against Leon Rodgers and George Reese, (older) guys,? Penn said, ?and what stuck out in my mind was that when someone went at him and scored, he didn?t act like a freshman kid out of high school who was like, ?Oh, OK.? He came right back at you. I was like, ?OK, this kid is something special.? He has that ?it? factor you look for.?
And then he was gone.
In late September, a few days after the Buckeyes had begun small-group workouts with coaches leading to the start of practice in mid-October, the NCAA ruled that Ross was not qualified for freshman eligibility. Without a scholarship, he had to return home to Jackson, Miss., and retake courses online to gain his eligibility.
He could do nothing, though, to make up for the time he lost with his teammates while the coaching staff installed the system for this season. And despite qualifying to reenroll at Ohio State this winter, he hasn?t recaptured the edge he had in the summer. Ross has played an average of 4.3 minutes at the end of six blowout victories since making his debut on Dec. 22 and swishing his first shot, a three-pointer.
?After I had to go back home, it really kind of set me back because they were playing at a different level when I came back,? Ross said this week. ?They were on a whole different level as far as intensity.?
He said he does not lament the missed opportunity.
?I?m still part of a great team that has a chance to win the national title,? he said. ?I?ve just got to be ready at all times because you never know when Coach (Thad) Matta might call my number.?

Matta used 10 players in the first half and Matta said "our bench came in and gave us a tremendous boost. Those guys have practiced well and we told them to be ready go to tonight."
As for whether it was an indication of things to come, though, Matta said, "I would honestly like to play those guys as much as I could. But I thought tonight, matchups were favorable for us."
One player who didn't get in wasn't happy about it.
Freshman LaQuinton Ross posted on his Twitter account after the game, "Don't know how much longer I can take this BULL----!!!!!"
He removed the post a short while later and tweeted an apology: "I let my emotions get the best of me!!! I want to apologize to #buckeyenation that should have been something I took up with my coaches!!"
Don't quite understand your post. Guys don't get playing time just because they a big ego and he does not the talent to play because he cannot play defense. With tweets like that. He might not be around next year to get over it.NINJA BUCK13;2109953; said:I've been waiting for this....
He stated numorous times before he got to Columbus that he thought he was a one&done player.....
He has the talent to play for this team; definetly enough talent to play about 15 mins/game off of the bench to massage his ego....
The fact is though, you've got to be a team player and bust your a$$ untill you earn your PT....
We didn't see anything like this from Lenzelle last year and he was dealing with a simillar situation. He got hurt over the summer leading into his freshman season and was behind his teammates (Sibert) and playing catch-up all season. Lenzelle kept his mouth shut, worked on his game and his body, and is now earning almost 30 mins/game in conference play....
Ross is in a similar situation this season, and this time Sam Thompson is benifiting from it.....
He needs to keep his mouth shut, bust his a$$, and earn his time whether that's in the tourny this season, or next season, or after that.....
