158 years. That comes out to just over eight years per cat.

The punishment is worse than if you were, say a Cleveland wide-out, and you committed vehicular homocide.

Incarceration serves two purposes: punishment, and protecting society. (Rehabilitation is a joke.) This kid's sentence obviously is aimed at the second goal.

Donte' Stallworth's sentence is not aimed at anything then. And the kid didn't have enough money to throw at the legal system.

Copy Cat Killer?

Sheriff's Office searching for East Valley cat killer

Large incisions carved into the backs of 14 cats have East Valley pet owners on edge and Maricopa County Sheriff's detectives with few leads.
The mutilations began in Tempe six weeks ago and since then, similar incidents have been reported in Mesa, Tempe, Chandler and East Phoenix.
Twelve of the felines survived after undergoing costly surgeries, two others died from their injuries

I'm not one for animal cruelty, but I'm also not a big fan of cats. They can't really do tricks, they don't really greet you at the door when you come home, they seem more annoyed with you than anything else 90% of the time.

150+ years, even as a maximum possible sentence, is absurd. I'm sure he won't spend more than a fraction of that in jail, but this wasn't a human we're talking about here. How many dogs did Vick put at risk? Put the two in comparison.
