SEC (It just means more.. even its losses are wins)

Something I've found amusing this past season is how fast the construction of the SEC dominance narrative began; yet how slow the deconstruction process has been.

Speaks to the power of media.

It took two games - two only. Losses in the BCS title to UF and LSU. That was it. The narrative and hype train was in full force by mid January 2008.

Here we are, with Big 10 teams beating SEC teams, in a couple cases absolutely housing them, to win back to back titles.

Yet the noise hasn't quelled. The narrative has not changed (at a national level anyway) You still see the arguments for 5-6 schools in the playoff.

With what we've seen the last couple years, I believe we've learned a few things.

- media has completely overtaken rankings, fueled by conference money.

- the BCS wasn't all that terrible

- playoff expansion is unnecessary

- realignment into the super conferences was short-sighted and self-destructive

- tOSU university needs to smoke another SEC team along the playoff path. This time preferably in the title game.

It started before 2008. The run up to the UF game all we heard about is SEC inbreds and their allies on SEEBS and the beginning of what started on ESECPN screeching about (not to mention dipshits on messages boards in their distantly-racist ways about SEC/southern SSPPPPPPEEEEEEDDDDDDDD - like no one on Ohio State could run) how the SEC SEC SEC was superior and how they only beat up on themselves.

Hell even going back to 2002 you had some idiot (Spencer Tillman maybe?) on SEEBS preaching about how Cryami was going to destroy Ohio State and how a 2 loss UGA was the real contender to the title.

Worst thing the BCS ever did was remove the influence of the computers because they didn't always agree with the humans.

The SEC dominance narrative is never going to end with the massive interest ESPN has in it. It's the same recycled crap every year, the shit teams like Florida, Auburn, Arkansas & South Carolina are constantly hyped as teams "nobody would want to play" to keep up the "NO EASY WEEKS! SO DEEP TOP TO BOTTOM" narrative to make the conference seem much stronger than it actually really is.

I was living in SEC country at the time. Ir was 2006.

It started in 2006.

We were undisputed #1, The Game was 1 vs 2 and then both laid an egg in their Bowl games.

SEC fans wre cautious going into that Fiesta Bowl game, actually quite nervous. Then like most people do they went from scared to full retard after they won. The the rest of the SEC jumped in because it was a blowout and..... "Hell bub, we played Florida tougher then that. Them boys wouldn't win 3 games in the S-E-C" shit started.

That Fiesta Bowl game did unrepairable damage.
