SEC (It just means more.. even its losses are wins)

OK, @Nutriaitch. I have a question. A high school classmate of mine has a daughter who is going to Ole Miss this Fall. According to her facebook page, she went to Oxford to be with her daughter during sorority rush. Is this some weird SEC! shit that I've never heard about, or is this woman just a bit off. She had a reputation in high school for being one of the best looking girls in the class but also dumb as dirt and completely self-absorbed.

That is a down South thing. My nephew is rushing a fraternity now at UGA. His Mom (Fredo grad) is all in on the Fraternity stuff. As a former frat boy, nobody's parents came to shit. However, the sororities would do a "parents weekend" that was minimally attended. Nothing like what you described.

Yeah. I think our school had a parents' weekend, and I think my parents came for that one time. But yikes - I'm glad they didn't come to any rush events, and those were the tame parts of college.

those are really good places to look if you want to find weirdos

NOLA seems to me to be full of the good interesting type of weirdos: musicians, artists and general freak flag flyers. Kind of a magnet for interesting people from the rest of the South who didn't fit in where they grew up.

The other two, more full of disturbing types of weirdos. As others have said "hypermasculine" types who just happen to enjoy some time at the truck stop.

Maybe the mom is a legacy Zeta Tau and wants to make sure her daughter gets into the right sorority.

According to the photos, daughter and mother are now "sorority sisters," though mom went to LSU. I wish I could link the facebook, the photos tell oh so much about how deeply bizarre this is. Don't think it would be right to publicly doxx and humiliate the woman though.

Could I get a ruling on searching ole miss sororities mom and daughter on Google, and posting the top link returned?

NOLA has every kind of weird you could ever want.

you want the "cool hipster artsy" vibe? it's there
you want the religious fanatics preaching the end of the world? yep got them too.
you want to go out with a bunch of goths and tour cemeteries at night? easy to find
want to find a voodoo priestess to cure your poison ivy by burying a potato wrapped in Spanish mss under an oak tree (yes, speaking from experience)? those are definitely in NOLA
you want to drink yourself sick with a bunch of tourists while walking down a street that smells like piss and puke? Bourbon Street is the place for you
you feeling the need to get gang raped, carjacked, tossed off an overpass into the swamps of NOLA East? head to parts of the 7th Ward

NOLA is my Vegas. It’s a town where I can walk into a bar at 8:00 in the morning, order a double shot of vodka, and walk back out without feeling even a little self conscious about it.
