SEC (It just means more.. even its losses are wins)

I was engaged to fiance' #2 in '98. The plan was for a Fall wedding and I only had one request - any day that's not the 3rd Saturday in November. Guess what day was the only Saturday she could put it together. Long story short, there was no wedding (for several reasons), and I have no regrets (that had divorce #2 for both of us written all over it). She went on to marry (and divorce) some other guy.

Me? I scalped two tickets for The Game and took my best man. It was Coop's finest hour versus TTUN.

SEC coaches sound off on tampering: It's 'a cutthroat business'

While college football coaches bemoan the prevalence of tampering when it comes to the transfer portal, Florida's Billy Napier acknowledged the driving force behind rule-bending in recruiting, telling reporters on Tuesday, "This is a cutthroat business."

Ever since the advent of the transfer portal five years ago, coaches have warned about the possibility of recruiting players on other teams' rosters.

NCAA rules stipulate that players cannot be contacted by coaches until they've officially submitted their names into the portal. But coaches at SEC spring meetings and across the country said that it's happening frequently.

"There's no doubt tampering is real," Napier said. "... And I think that until there's something done about it, I think that you'll continue to see it."

What can be done to stop it, however, is up for debate.

Very few coaches have shown a willingness to call one another out for perceived wrongdoing. Pittsburgh coach Pat Narduzzi has been vocal, questioning the transfer last year of Jordan Addison from the Panthers to USC. To which Napier asked, "What's come of that?"

Thus far, the NCAA has not publicly punished any FBS coaches for tampering.

"So ultimately, I think, to each his own, we all got an approach that we've chosen to take," Napier said. "We're going to control what we control at the University of Florida. That's our player experience, that's our evaluation process, our recruitment process to try to position our team in the best position."

SEC Schedules are starting get leaked from the main office. Should make for an interesting show tonight on ESPN. The 2024 Schedule release show airs at 7:00pm EST.

Unless things go sideways this year, this game might be Arch Mannings's first ever Prime Time start and obviously his first game in the SEC.

At Bama, At Texas and Neutral Site against Clemson to open the season.

Who is the 9th regular season conference opponent?
Oh wait... nevermind.

(Sorry - not a shot at BigWoof or Georgia. It's more pointing out the silliness of college football scheduling, and the Big Ten is partially to blame for it.)

Fun with nine game schedules and Greg Sankey, our commish.
Sankey is not regarded to be the Iron Fisted mastermind his predecessor was, the late Mike Slive.

However, he operates quietly and takes notes of who is bitching and moaning and responds accordingly.
Example:

Nick Saban whined about having Auburn, Tennessee and LSU as his permanent opponents on a nine-game slate. So what has the SEC done for 2024? Given ‘Bama all three, plus Georgia and Oklahoma. Toe the line coach.
