Seahawks (ex-USC) Coach Pete Carroll (official thread)

Pride before fall.... that might be a stretch but your ego can get such that you think your actions dont have consequences.... If I have an elite 8 qb son this situation would definatly effect my choice of school... this is a black eye..... and 38% is not bad odds considering the odds of being a good pro period imho

Credit to Dave Biddle for finding this old youtube of Pete taking part in the shirtless recruiting tactics. Somewhere, Chuck Amato is laughing.

Head Trojan Carroll to write book due out next year

LOS ANGELES -- Southern California football coach Pete Carroll will author a book called Win Forever, due out next spring.

The book will include previously untold details and anecdotes about USC football, as well as Carroll's advice for building teams that stick together and consistently outperform expectations.

He will also discuss leadership off the field, based on his charitable work with kids on streets of Los Angeles, according to the book's publishing house Portfolio.

Carroll will donate a portion of the proceeds to A Better LA, a nonprofit organization that focuses on reducing gang violence in the city.

He is 88-15 in eight seasons at USC. His teams have won two national championships and seven consecutive Pac-10 titles.

When the fuck did they do that?

when they bounce back after losing to Stanford and win the rest of their games!

in their defense, it's hard to live up to expectations when you are expected to win it all every year, but for some reason USC gets a free pass in pretty much every area that Ohio State gets ripped constantly for, so fuck them

Right. I'm not saying the expectations aren't outrageous. I'm saying that they don't outperform them.

That's not fair criticism at all. OSU pounds bad teams and hasn't shown up in big games (lately). USC drops stupid games to bad teams, but shows up and owns the big stage. It's completely different. Yes, they deserve ribbing for losing to Stanford (lol), but you can't equate their shortcomings with ours.

I was thinking mostly about dominating the conference, Ohio State dominates because the Big Ten is down, but USC has won eight straight (or something) PAC-10 titles and it is because they are God's gift to college football and has nothing to do with the relative strengths of the other teams

a large part of that probably has to do with big games success, but I stand behind my fuck them

Equal, but opposite.

I'd rather Ohio State lose to Texas, LSU, and Florida than Oregon State, Stanford, and UCLA.

Then again, USC could probably beat Texas, LSU, and Florida. Then again, I'd like it if Ohio State never lost.

Yea. Equal, but opposite.

[Maybe I'm still bitter about playing Florida instead of USC in 2006.]
