Some friends and I are planning on traveling in an RV over from the N. Virginia area for the Wisconsin game. Im unclear after reading the parking info on the website, if overnight is available for purchase or is it just "day of game" parking. If not, could anybody give me some guidance as to wear the overnight RV Parking generall goes down? Pretty amped and looking forward to the game. Thanks

RV Parking
Fans who park recreational vehicles, campers, and vans must pre-purchase parking permits. RV permits go on sale at 10:00 a.m. on July 19, 2011 online through the Athletics Department website, ohiostatebuckeyes.com. These passes are sold on a first-come, first-served basis. For more information about the sale, please click here.

There is no day-of-game RV parking. Spaces are all pre-assigned, and the designated spaces are held for the permit holder until 90 minutes prior to kick off. RV parking lots open at 5:00am on the day of each home football game. RV/campers with permits who arrive before the lots open or RV/campers without a camper parking permit may park at the Ohio State Fairgrounds on a first-come, first-served basis. On game days, COTA shuttles are available to provide transportation to the campus before, during and after the football game.

There is no overnight parking on campus. You can park at the fairgrounds over night and then move to the lot that your pass is good for at 5am. If you do not already have a parking pass for the Wisconsin game, you are likely SOL unless you find one on craigslist or ebay at your own risk. RV single game passes went on sale several weeks ago and sell out for the big games in just minutes. There is no RV lot that takes cash on gameday.

This may not be the answer you were hoping for but it is as accurate as you can get on RV parking.

Thanks for the quick response. Is there tailgating going on at the fairgrounds as well? i guess what i am asking is are we going to be the only one with an RV there, or does that lot get pretty packed as well? and is that pretty far from the stadium or are we talking like a mile or two? Basically i just dont want to be absolutely away from everything and everybody on the game day. sorry for the noob questions, but have never been to Columbus, so just want to make sure i know what I'm getting into before i just drive in with an RV point blank. thanks again

The last few years any games I have been to I have just gone down to Columbus for the weekend, stayed with my cousin on campus, partied wherever she went, and then walked to the game.

This week though I am just driving down real early Saturday morning (6am). If I want to tailgate and meet some fellow bucknuts where is an ideal place to park lot wise?

The fairgrounds is a ways from the stadium. I don't suspect you'll see a lot of RV's out there on gameday. There might be for Wisconsin, because its a huge game and there are always a few RV's that show up unprepared and I have to send them there. There is a shuttle that runs to the stadium and back from the the fairgrounds though.

If you want to be in the action, your best bet is to find a parking pass someone is selling online for the game.

The earlier you get on campus, the more into the action you can get obviously. South of Lane on Fyffe is a great lot. Its a $15 lot and is shaded by a lot of trees.

West Campus gets some good tailgating over by Fred Beekman park at Carmack and Kenny.

And there is a shuttle from there.

There are lots up around the RV lots and all the way up to Ackerman, but there is no shuttle from the lots so far north.

Only question I have really is do they run shuttles to the parking lots that are really far away. I know they did for the spring game.

The lots at West Campus have a shuttle. The lots up Fred Taylor Drive near The Schott do not. Makes no sense because these lots are further away than west campus, but that's how it is.

It's that time of year again. Football season is here. May the blessings of Woody be upon you and Fuck Michigan.

Any questions parking related feel free to ask within this thread so I can answer them publicly. I'll post parking maps and changes in the next day or so.

2012 FOOTBALL PARKING

RV Parking
Fans who park recreational vehicles, campers, and vans must pre-purchase parking permits. RV permits go on sale at 10:00 a.m. on July 17, 2012 online through the Athletics Department website, ohiostatebuckeyes.com.

Public Parking
Public parking is available in any ?Day-of-Game? lot on a first-come, first-served basis at a charge of $15 per vehicle Any purchased current annual OSU parking permit will be honored in day-of-game lots (except the Camper/RV parking lots) at NO CHARGE. Valuecards, temporary single or multi-day permits are not valid for football parking. Public parking fees help defray costs of campus traffic control and security. Please see the 2012 Football Parking Map for parking lots and garages reserved for season permit parking, OSU parking permits only, and day-of-game parking. Parking lots tend to fill early on game days. If you are going to the game, you should plan on arriving at least 1.5 - 2 hours prior to kickoff.

Disability Parking
Disability parking is located off Lane Avenue in the North St. John Arena lot and in the Lane Avenue Parking Garage. Lift equipped shuttles provide continuous service to and from these locations to the east side of the stadium at Gate 22.

For access to the disability parking areas, prominently display a valid disability permit and follow the officer's directions. All spaces are available on a first-come, first-served basis and require that the registered owner of the state placard (along with the current registration for the state disability placard) or OSU disability permit be present in the car. A $15.00 parking fee or valid OSU parking permit is required to park.

Parking Alternatives On Home Football Saturdays
Several alternatives are available to help Buckeye fans avoid campus traffic on home football Saturdays. These options are as follows:

For those fans parking on West Campus, a free shuttle will provide continuous service beginning six hours before kickoff continuing through one hour after the game. Shuttles pick up and drop off fans at Mount Hall on West Campus and the Sisson Hall footbridge located just west of Drake Union and Ohio Stadium.

Park at the Ohio Expo Center and ride the Central Ohio Transit Authority (COTA) shuttle to campus. Avoid campus football traffic with COTA?s parking and transportation to and from all home football games. For more information, visit www.cota.com.

Construction Impacts
The 12th Avenue Garage will be closed from July 2012 - December 2012 for renovations and will not be available for football parking during the 2012 football season. In addition, 12th Avenue, between Neil Avenue and College Road will be open to eastbound traffic only.
