Scooter's annual football parking thread

Alright Scooter, I usually try and park by the Ag building. I tend to arrive around 6 AM just to make sure I get a spot up front by the sidewalk. My question: Do you know if they are keeping the 6 AM slot to open for parking? Curiously, any insight to parking at Indiana games?

Indiana games are typically pretty slow, in that a lot of people come meandering in about 90 minutes before kickoff. That was quite typical.

But this is a new era in Buckeye football, and Indiana tickets are easy to come by for the general public and the casual fan that can pick this game to bring the four curtain climbers to and not have trouble finding someone at the office that has plans that day and needs to pawn off the tickets.

My advice: Treat the Indiana game like any other B1G game and get down there fairly early. ~3 hours before kickoff at the latest.

As far as I know the Ag Building parking situation has not changed. If I hear different, I'll let you know.

Help for this weekend's game UCF

Scooter,
For the UCF game, I am going to be tailgating with 3 families. We are looking to get our kids started as it will be their first experience. We are looking to park 3 trucks in the day of game parking behind the Fawcett Center. We are doing breakfast and the whole kaboodle. What time does the lot open? My buddy was wanting to arrive at 4:30 am (noon game) to get good spots. Will they even allow parking in the grass behind the Fawcett Center with the forecasted rain on Friday night? Any advice would be great for a successful tailgate for the kids.

Thanks
Eppy

http://www.ohiostatebuckeyes.com/gameday/

1. DAY OF GAME LOTS: Parking is available day of game on a first-come, first-served basis. The charge for these lots is $15. Those holding current valid Ohio State Parking Permits (A, B, C, etc.) may park in these lots free of charge. Shuttle service to Ohio Stadium is available free of charge for guests who park on west campus (parking lots west of SR 315).
a. Vehicle and tailgate must fit within the 8 ?' x 15' space provided.
b. Any vehicles larger than the above will be asked to purchase an RV pass or park at the Ohio State Fairgrounds.
2. DISABILITY LOTS: Disability Parking will be located in the lots north of St. John Arena and in the Lane Avenue Garage. The charge for these lots is $15. These areas will both be accessible, while space is available, from Lane Avenue. A current state issued disability placard, along with registration, and the person who owns the placard must be in the vehicle to enter the parking area. (Officers may validate ownership of the placard at any time.) A shuttle will transport guests from the parking lots north of St. John Arena to the east side of Ohio Stadium near Gate 22. This shuttle will operate from six hours prior to kickoff until one hour after the game.
3. SEASON PERMIT LOTS: These lots are reserved for those who have purchased a season parking permit. Spaces in these lots are held for permit holders until 90 minutes prior to kickoff.
a. Vehicle and tailgate must fit within the 8 ?' x 15' space provided
b. Each permit allows 1 vehicle that meets parking space regulations, into the reserved lot. Permits are to be used for vehicles only.
c. Any vehicles larger than the above will be asked to purchase an RV pass or park at the Ohio State Fairgrounds.
d. RV LOTS: All RV parking on The Ohio State University campus is sold in advance of game day through the Athletic Department website at www.ohiostatebuckeyes.com. Please visit www.ohiostatebuckeyes.com for more information
e. The Season RV Parking Lot, which is located next to Bill Davis Stadium, is reserved for season ticket holders only.
f. Passes for the Day of Game RV Parking Lot, which is located on Fred Taylor Drive across the street from Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium, must be purchased in advance of game day by going to www.ohiostatebuckeyes.com. Day of Game RV Parking Lot passes can only be purchased on a game by game basis. All RV parking spaces are numbered and pre-assigned. RV parking passes WILL NOT be for sale on game days.
4. All parking lots open at 5am on game day. Vehicles parked overnight in Football Game Day lots without proper parking permits on display are subject to be towed.

A new company has taken over the parking lots at Ohio State, so a lot of the rules and processes have changed. I'll do my best to answer questions or get the answer when I can.

Welcome to 2014, Buckeye fans.

Some links for gameday info

Here is what I know about RV parking as it stands right now. For the most part nothing has changed for this season. The Day of Game RV lot does not, and will not accept cash on game day. All passes must be prepurchased online or acquired by some other means before gameday. If you do not have a pass, you will be directed to the fairgrounds. This will be an issue for the Rutgers game (October 18th) as the All American Quarterhorse Congress takes over the fairgrounds from October 3rd to the 26th.

The season pass RV lot will not be full this year. THE University, in its infinite wisdom, jacked up the price for the season lot from about $970 to $4000, requiring anyone in that lot to be a member of the President's Club. So when you park out by Ackerman Road on game day and walk through my half empty lot every week, don't bitch at me.

Parking is now fully under the control of CampusParc (a division of LAZ). They have their own staff of glorified meter maids running around looking for anything to write a ticket on. Including those of us who work there for not having a parking pass for our own cars.

The booze gestapo has not changed. RED SOLO CUPS, PEOPLE!! The fine exceeeds $100 for the first offense. Mike Datish (father of former Center Doug Datish) was not immune to the fine and proudly displays his ticket at his tailgate when he is there.

The deputies I have worked the gate with for over a dozen years will no longer be returning. Nate has retired and is moving to Clearwater, and Laura no longer works special duty to be home with her wonderful daughters. I do not know who I'll have working the gate with me now. Losing these two ridiculously cool and easy to get along with deputies is a serious hit to me. To be honest, it scares me a bit that could put some boot at this post looking to make a name for himself by harassing my tailgaters.

As always, if there are any questions concerning parking please post them here so I can respond for all to see. I have a meeting tomorrow night with CampusParc and will know more then

Mods/Admins - can you sticky this thread to the top so it's easy to find please, at least until late November? Thanks and

GO BUCKS!!!

Although I've attended many tailgates before, I've never set up my own. I'll be headed to the game again TTUN. The plan is to get there when the lots open Saturday morning and park west of the river near the vet school. If we are unable to drive home, can we leave our vehicle in the lot overnight and come pick it up Sunday morning, or will that leave us with a ticket/towed car?

Just to let everyone know, I have officially stopped working for CampusParc and will no longer be working the RV lot.

This company and the university working together has become a true conglomerate of derp that is hell bent on destroying the tailgate atmosphere on campus for the sole purpose of making more money. I just can't take it anymore. In 17 years, I have seen the atmosphere in my lot dwindle from Mardi Gras levels to what I assume resembles Anne Frank's last birthday party.

A buddy of mine and I intend to tailgate at the AG building frequently this up coming year and likely every year until he retires and heads to warmer climates. As we get closer to the season I'll reveal more details if anyone wants to join us.

Peace
