Scooter's annual football parking thread

Or 71-N to Hudson and park on the street along 4th or Summit. A bit of a hike, but it gives traffic time to clear out after the game.

There is also a free lot on west maynard, by the public pool there. Again a bit of a walk, and there is only something like 20 spots so you would need to get there very early.

I have normally come up I-71 to 315 and gotten off on Lane to park on west campus. With the mess that is currently 315, any suggestions on parking if I am approaching C-bus from the south?

Thanks

:oh:

You can still get off at Ackerman and park in the lot that is right there or you can get off 315 at Goodale and make your way up Olentangy River Road and get to Lane Ave. that way.

Its that time of year again. Sadly, I haven't heard much of anything new for this year. So I'm hoping the parking procedures have remained unchanged. (Actually I wish they'd go back to 2001 again but that's neither here nor there)

If you have questions, bitches, complaints, moans or groans fire away here so everyone can see the exchange and won't ask the same questions over and over.

Please, this year show our visitors some class and make their trip to Columbus a pleasant one. Even if they leave with wounded pride, I want them to remember our fans for the positive experience not the silly shit that always makes the national news.

That said, if I see anyone treating the Middies like anything less than royalty, I'll be ashamed.

Looks like 315 is all F-ed up by ODOT (big surprise, it was every year I was a student too)...any thoughts on how that's going to impact things scooter? We used to come in from Hilliard via Lane Ave...is it better to just skip that way and go Olentangy this year and bypass 315 altogether?

most of the exits are open southbound, the speed limit from about riverside hospital down is 45, it rarely goes that fast...

The big thing the university is saying is to just make sure you give plenty of extra time. I know for the usc game they are saying add about two hours at least. If you are parking on west campus and coming from hilliard it might be easier just to come up through upper arlington. if you are parking on campus it might still be 315 for the easiest way there

Here's the University's info on trafiic and parking recommendations.

Official.site

Ohio State will kick off its 2009 football campaign Saturday (9/5) vs. Navy and fans planning to attend one of the seven home games are encouraged to plan and leave early when traveling to Ohio Stadium. Because of ongoing construction on many Columbus streets and the closure of several entrance and exit ramps on State Route 315, motorists should review their travel routes and anticipate delays. For detailed information about construction traffic, visit http://www.BuckeyeTraffic.org/315 and http://www.pavingtheway.org/.
Guests who will travel north after a game should plan to park in lots north of Ohio Stadium, while guests that travel south after a game, should park in lots south of the stadium. Follow the directions of police officers regardless of where you park as traffic conditions may change.

A number of shuttles and alternative travel options will be available, including a new park and ride option from the downtown City Center garage. Shuttles will pick up and drop off guests at 17th Avenue by University Hall (near the Oval). The fee is $10.

Parking Help

The last few years coming 71 N from Cincy I would take 315 N to Goodale and turn right on Olentangy River Rd I would park in the parking lot near Chammps. Two questions:

1) Is that exit coming north on 315 open?

2) Can you still park in that lot for free?

Thanks.

Apparently it is. Only King and Ackerman exits are closed
