Say, whatever happened to...?

So what you're saying is I'm not good enough to ruffie? I'm apparently just a cheap date.

My list of non beer sharing on BP has doubled.

Ah, don't be that way. There are very few people I would use a roofie on.....generally I save them for myself after a particularly ugly evening.

As I recall from my early days here at BP the poli-board was formed as a solution to political sentiment creeping into other boards. "Why not form a separate board just for political discussion" the argument went. Then we can tell folks to take their political arguments there and leave the rest of the board alone.

Not long ago (a year or two) there was discussion about getting rid of the board because of the trouble the poli board was causing. Seems now like we should have.

Now I look at the intensity of political discourse in the "real world" and can only shake my head. I enjoy debate. But the amount of influence any one of us thinks we have is so out of proportion to what we actually have that it is simply laughable. You may as well be arguing tootsie rolls versus gummi bears for all the difference most of us will ever make.

This is a football board! We all wear scarlet and gray. That is the real world important stuff. Not this left versus right abstract ideological bullshit.

Why can't we all act a bit more civilized. If a conservative wants to express their opinion it is their right. And if some limp-wristed, cock-sucking left wing pedophile wants to express their opinion, well - I guess they have rights too.

.... at least for now.

The fact a single post in the "say whatever happened to..." thread regarding jlb's thoughts on leaving has gotten this much run is telling.

A lot of regulars have become too binary in their opinions and need to take a step back and recalibrate. No, this is not just about politics. This started occurring before the pres election cycle. A lot of regulars left in 2014 and 2015.

It's also regarding how visiting fans have been treated.

Post your post, let it stand on its merits, and stop picking nits and replying to every damn perceived slight.
